Just when I think I'm out, this happens and sucks me right back into N scale.



I bought this SCL GP40 back in January, but it had a deformed walkway.  I sent it back to Atlas under warranty, and, about ten or eleven weeks later, it showed up on the doorstep today.  Thanks for fixing it, Atlas!  Too bad it's losing its home, because this "Pulling For You!" scheme has really grown on me.

I have considered asking the buyer of the layout, if I can keep it.  I was looking at it the other night and recalling just how much work went into it.  Oh, and the commissary building was never part of the deal.  It stays with me.

Just caught this.  No secrets here, it's me.   Finalizing the moving plans and prepping the new space!  I'm really looking forward to it.

My original plans and layout work got completely consumed with the diversion making the miniature chassis which has now taken on a life of its own, halting any progress on my own layout and for the foreseeable future.  This seemed like a really good way to have something to run and play with.  Something to scratch the itch even if it isn't my originally intended era or locale.  It's quite a nice layout and will scratch the itch quite nicely, I think.

And I expect my future modelling efforts will be directed to doing some of the narrow gauge mini scenes that are all the rage now, except in Nn3.

I read the build thread for this and saw all of the effort that went into this prototypical detail.  It was a challenging project with outstanding results, something that the builder can be justifiably proud of.  And, while I will want a train station in town and that one was QUITE satisfactory, I'm not attached to this specific location or era so what could I do?  That decision was easy and obvious.  Dave keeps the station as he should have from the start.   Some things are just that way.  I could never look at that station without a small feeling of guilt, akin to taking a man's first born.

OR...  Renegotiating a contract, heh?  Sounds like a busman's holiday.   

OR... All considered, I'm happy with this decision for both of us.
