Aha! Someone else understands! This is why I want both my N scale layouts in the same room, and I'd rather they have their own space.
The consist of my ACL Florida train is growing! It now includes:ACL E7 #524ACL E6 #505ACL Express Reefer #3042PRR Express Baggage Car #6016ACL Express Baggage Car #1624ACL 4-4-2 Sleeper "Manatee River"ACL 10-6 sleeperNYC 10-1-2 heavyweight sleeperACL 10-6 sleeperPRR 10-6 sleeperMuch better, but, at a minimum, I still need a diner!DFF
If you need some VERY long term leased FEC coaches or sleepers, I have two of each that I would love to see get some running time.
Is this the Southwind? If so, the Kato BL articulated diner is what I'm using.
I have an interchange track you could send them through
@Sokramiketes,I haven't decided which Florida train this is yet, although it's become a Pullman only train, because I have no coaches. Did the PRR articulated diner ever go south? I haven't seen evidence of that, but would love for that to be true. Most of the time, it appears that ACL diners were used, but, since no one makes a good quality N scale diner for the ACL, I need alternatives. Thanks,DFF
ACL had twin unit diners. If I remember right, they were C&O-style cars from that road's massive canceled order.
@seusscaboose,That would be awesome. I hesitated to bring them last weekend, because the BLI E units are very sensitive to dirty track. No offense intended there, but I know what a chore it would be to try to keep all of the track clean on your monster layout. DFF
Ahhh, were they assigned to the South Wind? Or available?Larry Shankles posted this reference to an actual 1964 South Wind consist:In the book "Atlantic Coast Line Passenger Service The Postwar Years" a consist dated 12/22/1964 is PRR E7A 5903, PRR E8A 5765, PRR E8A 5887, ACL bag 150, PRR 10-6 sleeper Kaskaskia Rapids, PRR 4-4-2 sleeper Imperial Hills, NP 4-4-4 dome sleeper 313, PRR 6dbr-lounge Alder Falls, PRR dining room car 4610, PRR kitchen-dorm 4611, ACL 5-1-4-4 sleeper Gardenia. ACL 5-1-4-4 sleeper Camellia (Chi-Sarasota), L&N 5-1-4-4 sleeper Florida Traveler (Chi-St. Petersburg), PRR 10-6 sleeper Stoney Rapids (Chi-Jacksonville), ACL coaches 217 (Chi-St. Petersburg) and 239 (Chi-Sarasota), PRR coach-bar-lounge 1151, PRR coach 4055, and RF&P coach 809. All cars Chicago-Miami unless otherwise noted. So that is a Budd set from the PRR, but assume any of their sets could have been in the pool.
