By the way, what color do you all see for the brick and the trim in the photo in my previous post?  There's no way that I'll be able to do the paintwork on the bricks around those windows and doors, because my "bricks" are way oversized and do not line up as nice as the prototype's.  I'll cheat and just paint the windows and doors that trim color.

What's this dimension on your model?

I'll measure it tonight.  Do you want actual or scale dimensions?

I would think scale so the number of tiles in that distance can be counted ascertaining their width.

Ooh, that increases the difficulty of deciding what to do for the roof.  MBK has one package, but I don't think it would be enough to do the entire roof.  Hmm . . .

While I figure out the roof dilemma, this gem showed up in the mail from Shapeways: an Atlantic Coast Line M-5 caboose.

I've not yet fully inspected the body, but after a preliminary review, I have to say that I'm not disappointed with the printing.  One of the following schemes is what I'm after:

Atlantic Coast Line (probably not, since this paint scheme would not have survived to the Seaboard System):

Seaboard Coast Line (not a complete stretch that this would have survived to the SBD, and this still screams of its heritage to the ACL):

Seaboard Coast Line in the Family Lines scheme (still somewhat resembles the original ACL scheme, and this paint scheme could have made it to the SBD.  There's also the gray Family Lines scheme hiding behind this caboose):

Or, Seaboard System (the easiest paint scheme):

Of course, this all depends on the availability of decals.

Oh, and don't worry.  I'm not going to put the SAL station project down for thirteen months again while I go on to other projects.  I'll stay it before beginning to tackle the ACL caboose.  I don't need the caboose for when the Mike McGrattan Memorial Train arrives, and I would like to have the station in somewhat presentable condition.

The AMB website says a package will cover 32 square inches......More math! :P

Personally, I like the SCL version of the cabeese...

Except that with overlapping shingles, the area that it will cover will be cut in half, i.e., approximately 16 sq. inches.  :P

Me, too, but I already have an Atlas extended vision caboose in that scheme.  Decisions, decisions.

Dave,
If it were me I'd do either the SCLmorange or the family lines orange. I like that grey for SBD locos but it sucks eggs for a caboose.

Atlantic Coast Line (probably not, since this paint scheme would not have survived to the Seaboard System):

Some of them lasted well into the late 1970's so not too much of a stretch...

I take it that this caboose is too modern to use with your ACL equipment?

I measured approximately 16 scale feet on my model.
