@OldEastRR,

I'm already on it.  I do consider drainage/erosion when I build my topography.  What has happened is that the creek is just hidden under the kudzu.  Here's a post from pre-kudzu days on October 28, 2012, showing how I actually thought about and resculpted the area to include the drainage into the lake.

If you go back to the current picture, you may also notice that I painted that end of the lake to appear as if silt settled from that small tributary.  As for the marshy/swampy area, I ordered some materials this week to begin working on the lake's shoreline.

Thanks,
DFF

I stand corrected. Or should I say, kudzued! I'm also not saying everybody ignores drainage on layouts - Chris333's  and Dave V's layout have natural watercourse contours, among others. And some layouts are nothing BUT watercourses, like the CP/CN one of the Fraser River canyon.
I noticed the white edges of the lake, Dave, and assumed it was white sand, which I thought was natural to the location you model. I don't know if sand can support marshy growth, you would.

My river drains right off the edge of the layout.  ;)

@jmarley76,
How did you find that picture?!

I did a paper in grad school on kudzu, so I have my sources... (google: kudzu growing near water)  ;)

Fifteen more trees.  Oh, we're not nearly finished making trees, but we're getting there.  Progress!

Indeed you are, though it looks like you need to drape one or two with your patented kudzu flocking.mand maybe add a shack shaped hump to suggest and old fishing cabin that got over grown.

Yeah, I've got three trees that are completely covered by kudzu near the bridge, but maybe I'll do more.  I've also got to do some fill under the trees that I've added over the last several weeks.  I'm also planning on installing some telephone poles and maybe some EZ Line along the A&R, to add some kudzu effects.

Thanks,

Now that photo I've seen, Jeff, and it's the inspiration of the first three trees that I kudzued.  I have to go back and add more leaves to those canopies and add more kudzu around, under, and on other trees.  In other words, I have more work to do.

Thanks,

Not absolutely in love with the color variation, but otherwise, I think it's looking wonderful!

Just, for the love of god, do NOT mention making trees every night...

I'm not in love with the color, either.  I wanted to model springtime when I started, but everyone told me it was a nice early fall scene. :facepalm:  I was too far along, so I've kept at it.  I have talked to my wife about redoing it.  We'll see.  It's not the dream layout, and I haven't decided if it's worth the effort.
