Dave I like the way you used the trees for a backdrop/divider and the tunnel like look where the A&R cuts through.
Curious, how much traffic does the A&R have on that line?  Enough to warrant good track maintenance?

The A&R is just a short line, so it's not a lot of traffic, especially at the Aberdeen end of the line.  I've referred to some pictures for guidance, but I've also left room to get in there for track cleaning.  Here's an idea of the look I'm after:

Really nice Dave...so you're modeling late Summer or early Fall though, right?

Well, I guess I am now.  You're literally the third person today (after my wife and my mother) to ask if I'm modeling autumn.  Ugh.  Being colorblind sucks.  I give myself a double facepalm. :facepalm:

At least you're not doing pink and purple trees and you can say "yeah, I'm doing early fall".  My co-worker is color blind.  He sees pink as blue.  Years ago, he came in sporting a new wrist watch.  He asked the driver at next desk over how he liked it.  Other driver says that's nice Bill, but why are you wearing a pink watch ?  What are you talking about, that's blue ?!  Nope Bill, that's pink.  In fact, it's fuchsia .  At this point, he is getting agitated.  Then I walked in and joined the conversation.  Bill looks at me and says what color is this ?  I said definitely pink.  A couple of choice words from Bill and some foot stomping, off came watch and into his pocket.  On way home from work, went back to store to exchange watch and had girl at the counter pick out a blue faced watch  :D

Heh, been there.  Thankfully, not with pink and blue, though.

So, I think I'll call it late summer.  September, perhaps.  Not what I was going for, though.  I really wanted to do springtime, and load the layout up with lots of color.  I'll have to see what flowering colors I can use now for late summer.  Real disappointment.

@davefoxx - no need to be disappointed.
I think you're doing a tremendous job.  You might just need to Autumn up the underbrush and ROW a little.

Thanks, Bryan.  The "woods" will eventually get scrap SuperTrees material around the edges to help hide the thin SuperTrees trunks, so that should autumn up the underbrush.  But, I'm not redoing my static grass, so we're just going to have to live with the fact that it was a wet summer, explaining the lush green grass near the SBD line and bright green kudzu at the far end of the layout.

You know you could correct this in situ with an airbrush. Just have your wife or step son help you pick a better shade of paint and give it a spray over

I considered this option, but I don't own an airbrush.  Besides, how in the world would I mask the tree structure, if I were to paint the leaves?  I'll just stick with late summer/early fall.  With other things going on in my life right now, this really isn't that big of a deal.  Besides, I'm colorblind, it looks great to me.   ;)

As promised, I put in some more undergrowth around the trees that abut the A&R mainline.  Since this track is supposed to be short line railroading, as compared to the Class 1 Seaboard System tracks in most of the previous pictures, I made the foliage come much closer to the tracks.  Any closer, though, and track-cleaning won't be any fun.

I'm not saying that I'm finished installing undergrowth or adding more texture and variety of foliage, but, for now, @Ed Kapuscinski, is this a little better?

Standing back and looking at this shot, I really like it.  And, this is on a door!  :)

Thanks, guys, I really appreciate your comments.

By the way, have you ever looked back to see how far you've come on a project?  This area of the layout caused me much concern for a long time, since I didn't really know how I wanted to finish it.   And, multiple attempts at scenery here ended up DOA.  Heh, check out where this section was about a year-and-a-half ago:

Yeesh!  You've come a long way, baby!
