Excellent!  Thank you, Lee!  That plan is awesome!!!  I definitely like it, and I very much appreciate your efforts!

Now that I am a little less apprehensive about scratchbuilding with the recent attempts at the highway bridge and the enginehouse, I look forward to tackling the former SAL station project, too.  The cardboard enginehouse is gone as of last weekend (it gave its life as a template for cutting some of the styrene parts of its replacement), and now I look forward to replacing the foam station, too. 

Yeah, regrettably, the freight house portion of the station won't fit on the layout, so I'm glad you didn't put any effort into that.

I received a replacement Intermountain shell for my SD45-2 today.  First, I want to thank @drgw0579 (Bill) for taking the initiative on his own to contact Kirk at IM about a recent post I made where I complained about my dissatisfaction with the color IM used for the Seaboard System SD45-2.  It was waaaaay too light and stood out like a sore thumb as compared to the rest of my fleet.

Bill then contacted me to let me know that Kirk had located a replacement shell for a Seaboard Coast Line SD45-2.  Let me tell you, I had scoured the internet on the lookout for this shell, so this was fantastic news.  IM offered that I could either send my locomotive back and they would not only swap the shells, but they would examine the locomotive and perform any needed maintenance at no charge, except shipping, or I could purchase the shell.  Since I had converted the locomotive to DCC and just recently cleaned and relubed it, it didn't make sense to risk shipping the locomotive to IM or for them to perform this work at no charge.  Instead, I chose to purchase the new shell, and they made a few bucks.  Win-win for all involved.

I received the shell today, and this locomotive is definitely becoming one of my favorites.  While I should patch it for the SBD under the cab, I really like the "Pulling For You" slogan and will leave it alone for now:

I know IM is currently taking a beating on the forums about the announcements for the SD40-2. I'm willing to give them a little slack, considering the excellent customer service they just gave me.

A Fort Bragg spur would be cool (I've even considered purchasing the U.S. Army GE 44 tonner from Bachmann from time to time), but, regrettably, I have no place to fit such a spur.  Being east of Raeford, it's within the staging yard that represents points between Raeford and Fayetteville.

Probably not.  This thing will never get finished as it stands.  Besides, if the layout were to grow, I think I would work on the ex-Southern interchange in Aberdeen (i.e., the return loop) and expand that out a little.  I restricted that interchange to the small loop, because, up to now, I've needed the floor space in the layout room for construction of the layout.  For example, I still have a lot of fascia to install, so I need room to cut sheets of Masonite.  But, someday . . . maybe.  It will not, however, run around the room to connect with the staging yards near the water heater, because the prototype roads don't connect that way.
