@wm3798, the commissary building has finally found it's home here at the north end of Hamlet Yard.   :)

It will be used as a railroad office building, perhaps administration, and will be a part of a small group of buildings at the north end of the Hamlet Yard, including, but not limited to, the engine facility's structures and a yard tower.  Most importantly, to me, this commissary building was built by Lee Weldon and was once installed at the west end of Ridgeley Yard on Lee's former Western Maryland Western Lines layout.  So, it has sentimental value and reminds me of the good times of hanging with friends and operating on Lee's old layout.  Potential or not, it will always have a place on my layout.

Thanks,

Couldn't agree more - which is why Elkins will always have a place on mine.  It's nopt prototypical for your part of the world, but a faded WM fireball on one side of that building would sure be a nice touch.

Or a faded "Western Maryland" like the Public Storage warehouse next to Orleans St. in downtown Baltimore...

Or just some "Chessie Sucks" graffiti, which actually MIGHT be appropriate given the merger fever of the time.

The A&R took delivery of an RDC-1 this week.   :)

Actually, I took some A&R decals and decorated a Kato undecorated RDC that I bought on sale a few years ago.  I did buy and install the decoder this week, which, unfortunately, will need to go back to Digitrax due to a glitch in the LEDs.  Thankfully, this is only the second defective decoder that I have purchased in ten years of operating on DCC.

Did the A&R actually have RDC's, or is that a foobie? If so, I think the gold decals would look better with a dark letter board, something along the lines of the PRR Congo scheme.

That is a Foob, the A&R did not have a RDC but it did have a self propelled motor car possibly manufactured by Brill? The 107 looks like it had black lettering, but it's hard to tell since it's a black and white photo.

Yep, it's a foob.  That Kato RDC was once destined to be decorated for the C&O.  But, I don't model that road anymore, so I thought it might be cool to use it on the A&R line to Raeford.  The lettering would definitely look better over color, but I don't own an airbrush and I'm lazy.

Do you know anyone with an airbrush and 5 minutes to spare that it would take to mask and shoot that simple letterboard?
