Plus, I had to find something wrong to maintain my street cred.

Jason

accurate to a "T".....

Car looks nice; albeit not correct for the majority of the CPR's fleet, except, now that I think of it, the Maine cars they had in international service...hmmm.....

Great to see Atlas playing the other side of the street in conjunction with Trainman... looks like the "formal" beginning of a two tiered Atlas rolling stock offering.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

 :)

Fortunately for me, marriage has taught me how to co-exist happily with other people that only want your opinion if it agrees with theirs.

Unfortunately, it's taught me the same thing about people who like the Packers.

So you're a double win.

Go Vikes.

This was an interesting thread when it was still talking about the new model ....... Sometimes it's better to ignore a post than go off on one and stoop to that level.

Returning to the topic, the car looks great, and a big step forward. Looking at the coupler placement, I don't think coupling distance wil be bad at all. Hopefully it will sell well and encourage Atlas the time is right to continue new releases at this level.

I wonder if MT are wishing they'd stepped up and improved their tooling?

Cheers,

Kev

Duh .....Thats what I was getting at dude. Would you guys be happier if they didn't even release this car. It looks just fine to me and I like stuff to be as prototypical as possible just like anyone else . I just don't get my panties in a bundle like some of you nerds. You need to get out of the trainroom once in a while.

Perhaps the way the world walks all over people these days, having extreme control - like the correct number, placement, etc. of rivets, tackboards, etc. - provides the greater sense of relief/relaxation, the same brand of enjoyment being sold 1/2@a$$ crap has for you.

You know... Bachmann just released a new box car, go for it, Cat Daddy.
The world might walk all over you (like being run off the road in your case) but if you get relaxation from having the exact number of rivets on your boxcars I think you are a nerd.
BTW I don't own anything with the word Bachmann on it, I'm not that lame, nor do I own a Cat. I'm a Polaris Guy.

Go Vikes....oh man, now I have to be nice to you; anyone who suffers that much needs a friend !  :D

I agree with you more than you know; but i didn't want to say anything and wreck your humility..... ;) LOL

Did anyone confirm that the door will part of the car; if they are offering so many door types, one might think that they would be separate ....?

I'd expect it to be separate like the last three box cars.  It looks like it may have been painted with the door in place. Maybe Mike will confirm.

Odd that the 7' door is first.  But I know I could use some GBW paper cars with the "Home of the Packers" decal.   :o

So the pilot model varies a bit from the PRR class X48, which were PS-1s:

- Door should be a 6-panel Superior.
- The tack board on the ends should be lower
- X48s had a cushion underframe

I'm not near my Morning Sun Color Guides so other comparisons are awaiting.  However, since I am currently running a Trainman PS-1 in the SK1a scheme as my PRR X48 class representative, I would be more than happy to replace it with one of these cars even with the variations.

I just hope that if they do them in Pennsy they don't do the Merchandise Service or Don't Stand Me Still!!! schemes that Atlas had put on its early PS-1 tooling as the only 20-car X48 class never received either scheme.  They appear to have been delivered in SK1a (Shadow-Keystone Phase 1a for the non-SPFs).

Then again, a class of only 20 cars for a railroad with a roster the size of Pennsy, even having one is a bit of a stretch, especially when the huge gap of X29 rebuilds remains.  I've been running MTL 40' PS1s as X29 rebuild foobs, and I'd like someday to have something better.

It looks great!  Not my cup of tea, but happy for those modelling older stuff.  Now we can put the grumbling that Atlas is ignoring n-scale to rest. We're swimming in great n-scale stuff.

It remains to be seen how long this takes to go from pilot model to hobby shop shelves.  Much depends on the situation in China.

It is a nice new model and it will be out soon enough.  Modelling is about more than buying stuff, surely?

"Come to the dark side Jason...you KNOW you want to......" :scared:

Thanks; I couldn't believe that the doors would be cast on.....I want to 'scoop" some doors for other projects from that list !
