Something for Pudds and the rest of our northerly neighbors...

I don't have much info yet, but Skibbe just emailed me these two photos so far. NARC/PWRS are producing these. Looks similar to their HO model of the 4000 cu. ft. coal gon. Mike is trying to send a few more photos, but his connection is slow right now.

Is there any way to buy PWRS stuff without having to sign up on their site?

John,

I'm signed up if you need anything. I keep hoping PWRS will do the slab-side covered hoppers and/or early carbon black cars.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

Most likely True Line Trains will do slab sides; they did an awesome HO model last year....I'm hopin !

Nice offering but way too modern for the 1973 Puddster....great to see another Hoser proto car coming out however...eh !

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Absolutely.  I must confess to being somewhat biased as I was asked to serve as a consultant on this project, but having seen the pre-production samples and operated them on my layout briefly, these are going to be outstanding models.  They are from a new factory in China and I am impressed with their work.  Dan has to be complimented for his attention to detail, insistence on accuracy, and willingness to spend the money to get it.

Yes, four versions (to start), which means the correct arrangement of brake equipment, end and side ribs for each scheme.  Note the low profile metal wheels, body mount couplers (which were a real challenge on this car), and the etched and wire parts.

Yes, only available from PWRS which is their perogative as they have paid for the tooling, but the best part about that is that the profits from the sale of this car will go straight toward the tooling for the next Canadian freight car (which most Canadian modellers 1970s onward will be keen to have!).

It's great you have seen these (and been a part in the development).  I've secured clearance from the finance committee to buy a set for an unit train!  The entire years budget in one go! :D :D

I am looking forward to these and have a couple CP units on pre-order for use in scrap service. Looking at the model I may have to add a couple more, CP runs scrap trains out of New York through New Jersey and up through Scranton so these are a must for me.

You can just buy stuff off the PWRS site, you do not have to sign up to their porters system, and you can request not to be on their constant contact list but you do have to open an account so your order can be processed. It simply is your mailing details and charge card number. When you give them your card number you can also have them mark it so that they ask before charging ...... it is not some thing they like doing but they do understand that we all have budgets that we are struggling with and that the juggling can be testing at times.

Just be firm when dealing with their reps or Dan, tell them when you have heard enough and let them know what you expect from them rather than letting them tell you what they expect from you!!! Ask for discounts too ..... they hate giving them but will to get sales!! (Not on the NARC stuff though ... there is only one price for that stuff .... the price asked)

Why does PWRS have to sound like such a pyramid scheme or scientology every time it comes up?

Can't they just be a normal retailer? Put it in your cart, pay, have it shipped? Is that so tough?
