CG N Scale 50' coal gon

I saw this on the net today:
http://www.shapeways.com/model/399670/50__coal_gondola_4_pack.html?gid=sg88137

It has 13 ribs like a PS 4000CF gon, but the ends don't match and the model's ribs extend below the sides.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

The 4000 cuft gon's don't have ribs extending below the sides?  Or is this a later version?

Neither is a P-S 4000 cu ft gon.

That's an Ortner car, not P-S.

I believe that's Mark Watson over on Trainboard.  Perhaps ask him???

His forklift kit when over pretty well from TB members.

Yes, that's Mark Watson's work.
What's really cool is his pre-1900 Ventilated Boxcar off a V&T car.

Great detail!

Would love to have a ventilated boxcar but would prefer an ACL or SAL one.

That's pretty neat stuff. I think the CG to 3D-Printing folks have quite a future.

I wouldn't normally presume to argue with the man, but it's definately an Ortner. You can sorta see the builder's logo in the centre of the car, and while it's too small to read, the shape is right.

Here's an identical car, the Ortner logo is a bit more visible (and very clear in the original image from my camera):

And here's a closeup of a Ortner logo from another site:

Minus the "Rapid Discharge" bit at the top left, you can see the outline is exactly the same as what appears on the photographed car above.

Ortner it is!  Makes perfect sense too... Trinity bought Ortner in 1987 (long before they acquired/merged with Thrall) and built alumunim cars very similar to the Ortner design.
