I saw this on the net today:http://www.shapeways.com/model/399670/50__coal_gondola_4_pack.html?gid=sg88137It has 13 ribs like a PS 4000CF gon, but the ends don't match and the model's ribs extend below the sides.
The 4000 cuft gon's don't have ribs extending below the sides? Or is this a later version? http://www.jeffstrainsite.com/railfan_pics/Industrial_Railcars/gondolas/wfcx/wfcx_gondola_81003.jpg
Neither is a P-S 4000 cu ft gon.The picture Skibbelicious linked looks like a later Thrall/Trinity design
Wasn't edited... I've called you Skibbelicious before

I wouldn't normally presume to argue with the man, but it's definately an Ortner. You can sorta see the builder's logo in the centre of the car, and while it's too small to read, the shape is right. Here's an identical car, the Ortner logo is a bit more visible (and very clear in the original image from my camera):http://canadianfreightcargallery.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=mwcx100620&o=mwcxAnd here's a closeup of a Ortner logo from another site:http://www.trainweb.org/nwrp/bldr/ofc1.jpgMinus the "Rapid Discharge" bit at the top left, you can see the outline is exactly the same as what appears on the photographed car above.
