The Housatonic Railroad in N Scale

I had a chance to do a few small projects over the weekend on Specialty Minerals.  I am beginning to build conveyors, crushed limestome loading bins, and a truck scale.  Covers on the conveyor are just placed and not glued.  I will paint, weather and place limestone on the belts before attaching the curved covers.

Weathered the bridge shoes on the three span crossing of the Housatonic River, in New Milford.

Great modeling subjects and execution.  I viewed you video on your blog, very nice operation and sound.

Two comments/questions:
(1) I believe your video indicated prototypical paint schemes based upon the HRRC.  Do you intend to free-lance any personal (fictional) names, either for freight or passenger rolling stock?

(2) Your three-span truss bridge and its approach track looks strikingly similar to the bridge on the old Maybrook line spanning the Housatonic in Derby-Shelton.  Not knowing the span in New Milford are these bridges that similar (other than 2 track vs. 1 track)?

1.)  I plan to eventually run only rolling stock and paint schemes seen on the actual Housatonic RR.  Not much in the way of freelanced equipment or paint, although I have included a few freelanced locations and industries as a nod to some good friends.

2.)  The single track, three span bridge in New Milford is a fairly decent representation of the one in the actual location.  It was built around the time  as the double track bridge you mentioned by Derby Junction.

Hello again.  It is good to be back. 

I have been away from model railroading and my layout for quite a while, although I would still try to sneak in projects like tweaking track, working on some of my kitbashed and scratchbuilt structures, etc, but very little was noticeable.  Our two daughters are now in college and I had to move my courthouse to a newly constructed facility, so time and energy were in short supply.  I did finally make some progress over this past winter and then when the pandemic hit, I had some more free time after work and on weekends, so I got serious about making progress.  The track is ballasted, frogs are wired, buildings are progressing and scenery is starting to take shape.  Here is a recent video showing the state of the layout as of a few weeks ago.  It starts out with the fictional "Letourneau Gorge," named after Louis, a/k/a "Trainforfun."  About half way through is a view of the concrete arch bridge, made by Rogue River Models, representing Cornwall Bridge, in northwest CT.  I still have a long way to go, but it feels good to be making progress again!  Please excuse the shaky cell phone video as I walk around the layout.

Welcome back!  Great little video tour - your layout is much farther along than I imagined and is looking really good.  It must be fun to operate.

Thanks.  It is fun to switch.  Putting it through its paces before ballast and scenery helped me see where I needed to tweak the track in places.

Thank you.  There was a lot of scratching and bashing going on to make decent representations of actual customers on the Housatonic line.  Details and scenery around all of the structures remains to be done.

Found it !! I was surprised the first time I saw the car in Canaan. I worked for the WC for many years and now I am qualified to help the HRRC on locomotive concerns.
