Those are incredible.

They do look to have a satin finish to em though. Have you thought about having the factory hit em with some dullcote before shipping? Not a complaint, just a general question.

As Homer would say

Are the LV's going to be available without the roof walk?

They look fantastic.  I have a hard time believing these are going to be a reality in N scale in a little more than a month.  These two releases are too early for my 1984 time line, but I will get them regardless to support ESMC.  I am looking forward to the PRR and PC releases that are 80's era appropriate.  I am really looking forward to the paint out cars and the Conrail releases.  Thank you for bringing these cars to the masses.

The finish is comparable to the brown New Haven and Canadian Pacific XIH boxcars, and the black ends on the State of Maine XIH boxcars.  The sheen is more pronounced in the photos, and not nearly as obvious in person.  They look like new cars just out of the paint shop.  The white on the Lehighs has more of a flat finish, and the black is comparable to the State of Maine ends.

Question Bryan, what's the dating that appears on the LV cars?

The X58 item page on the website for the Lehighs has the service and photograph dates listed for all of the cars, as does the Pennsy page.

Are the LV's going to be available without the roof walk?

All the cars in the first release are on the original body.  The next Lehigh scheme is on the transition body (no roofwalk, high brakewheel) with PC green replacement door and will be in the third release.  Some ex-Lehigh cars will follow in subsequent releases before the as-built version is revisited, unless the demand is so great that I'm forced to revisit them sooner than planned.

The fourth Pennsy car is from 1974 and has an ACI plate.  The coding of the ACI plate is accurate for the PRR 114260 reporting marks ... so when David K Smith develops an operating N scale ACI reader, the car will register accurately.  :P

There will be plenty of 1980s schemes represented.  Seven of the eight cars in the second release, which probably will appear in mid/late summer, are from the `80s.  The eighth car is from the 1970s.  Three Conrail cars will be in the next release.

There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

I see on your web site you just so happen to throw in the mix a PC painted car in your photo  :P.

Thanks!

I have my sites set on all of them wheather i can use them for my period or not. I can always add an ACI label or do my own paintout to bring them into 1976 era. Then I will have that many more when the later releases come out.

Looking forward to them Bryan. I've got my preorder in or at least for the shop to let me know when they arrive so I can order them all.

There is a Conrail in the photo also, to the right of the Penn Central, but it got mostly cropped out so that enough of the Lehigh Valley was featured.  I'll shoot a new group photo when I get the second release production run samples in early summer. :D
