That's more like it! Crappy photos are perfectly fine for documentation! I also see this is the "other" layout... the one that got put on hold?

How many layouts have you got under construction now?

Everything about that is smokin' hawt except for one thing...  I don't quite buy the Japanesey-looking truss bridge.  I wonder if a Walthers double-track truss with plenty of rust would look more Conrail in New England.

Yeah it is just a stand in for now. I'm trying to figure out how I can bash two CV truss kits into a double track. I think that Walthers one may look too heavy? I havent seen the N scale one...the HO version looked like it was built to withstand 747 collisions.

What would actually be more appropriate would be a cut stone arch bridge that were found frequently on the Boston Line...but I am afraid that people would confuse the locale with PA.

This is plan 3b that you drew last summer. With a slight tweak where I had to move the industrial coming off the main to the right a tad. And I made the passenger station less of an ominous feature.

1.5 are under construction haha

I spent the weekend a the Concord, NH show. There was a pretty good turnout the day of the show despite it being sunny, in the low 80's and no humidity. The Simonds Industrial Branch 2.0 ran pretty well for its first show. It was the only N layout there and there were lots of comments on how long the trains were.... oddly I thought they were pretty short. The JMRI server ran flawlessly all day.

I don't know if I've seen this plan Ian.  Where does it reside?

Ian,

Looks like you are making some good progress. What happened to the L-shaped plan? Do you have two versions, one for home and one for the road? Both are nice plans.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

The L shaped plan has been shelved for the moment (ba dum tis )

Both were designed for the road. But comparing the two, there is much more interest in this one at the shows cause of the roundy round

The N-Trakkers have known this fact for the last 38 years!     Running trains attract show-going public (especially the non-initiated possible-future model railoraders). That is who you want to attract!

Who cares if the crusty old model railroaders turn their noses up at the roundy-round layout and they instead would prefer to see a realistic switching layout.  Those salty-dogs are already initiated into model railroading. You want to bring in new blood into the hobby and the roundy-round layout is just what you need for this task!  :D

...You want to bring in new blood into the hobby...

Eh. I built the layout to show what could be done in N in finer standards. Its more of a personal challenge that I want to share with others so we can have "better modeling through peer pressure"!  :D

Sad fact about that is, most people don't care about how we take N scale to the next level.  They just want to see trains run, and don't much car about the advanced scenery techniques, the highly detailed locomotives and rolling stock, etc.

I'd say about 10% of the crowds we deal with when showing MiNi "get it."  The rest fo them complain about how tall it is.
