Would the tower in the picture make more sense down in that lot then where it is now? If not, then I'd definitely go with the abandoned building/lot/foundation as has already been suggested. Also, is that considered a crossing or just a paved area where the tracks are in the foreground? Understanding that a little more might open up some more suggestions,

I too agree with the idea of a foundation or something.  Maybe even bury some ties or rails like it was an abandoned siding and the building was torn down if there is room

I don't think the tower would. The foreground paved area is for the eventual station.

Too bad this layout cant be at the Springfield show.

It's on the waiting list. Unless, I can con CRHS to adding it to our entire booth in the next years!

The font looks a little sterile for the era of the building.  Are you going to be fading it a bit?  Or is there a prototype you're following?

I printed this out on Avery labels and just stuck 'em on.  Not exactly 3' away rule, but not bad for a background building, I believe.  You could also create some decals by printing black on white stock for the lettering areas, then paint the black strip the rest of the way.

It is far from done and will be faded as well but I specifically did not want to use that old block style font. The font is more towards Futra/Arial Bold Block style that is common around here on repainted letterboards. I used a similar font to what was on the I290 side of Worcester Cold Storage, but spread out the letters and thinned em out a bit to fit the length better.

I'm going to call Ed's law on a cold storage building with brick and windows on the basement level.

How so? The inspiration, Worcester cold storage, had bricked and boarded up as well as office space on the lower level.

No the basement level is going away, so it will just be a plain foundation.

Based on suggestions from the peanut gallery, I have been working on the foundation remains that will be at the vacant lot on the embankment.

She still needs a whole lotta roughin up and abandonment once the Pliobond (forgot how much I love this stuff ) sets up.  Then into her spot for some more 'Wire abuse and decay.

In my experience, Pliobond and styrene don't play well. Sometimes even after few months or years, the chemicals in Pliobond can warp or bulge styrene sheet.  5-minute epoxy is much safer to use. Or even Liquid Nails for foam.

I have read about others having warping and bulging issues, but where these are butt joints I'm thinking that I wont have that issue. Its not going to be used to secure it to the area, that will be PL.
