HO gets B&O EM-1

WOW...., I'll tell you, if there is one non PRR steam locomotive I would absolutely crave it would be the B&O EM-1's.   As a kid, I used to watch these monsters on the Glennwood, PA line to Benwood, WV.   Bachmann has just released these with apparently an updated sound decoder in them.   It is getting darn difficult trying to justify staying in N scale.

It's Bachmann, though, so at least it has a nonzero, if still trivial, chance of coming to N scale.

I got first dibs on anything you're selling.

:D

Ps. If you give it a year, you might get one out of Bachmann. Remember everything thats done in HO typically gets done in N a little while later.

If they do this I may trade in my CR Blue for some transition era B&O royal blue or get my dad to sell his HO stuff and we build something in his basement,

HO envy alert...HO envy alert...........
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

No envy here..Not a steam man..

Besides I still have 1/2 ton of HO.

A upgraded 2 Truck HO shay might get my attention-then perhaps not.

If Jason Shron and Rapido didn't get me back into HO with the up coming CPR "Canadian" and FP9A then nothing will.... and I have an HO display layout collecting dust in the garage.......... :D

:) I am guessing Bachmann will do this EM-1 in n-scale.
I see so many changes in Bachmann in the recent year or so that I am not judging them on previous years.

Nice locomotive... I can envision the amount of space you would need in order to make it look good in HO.

It's I nice model we've sold ours already. For Tony and Roger, I hope they get it in N. I no longer have much interest in steam.

Without spreading hear-say, you will be seeing more coming from Bachmann, to include sound equipped locomotives in N since they're working with Soundtraxx on their HO items. (Assuming they follow their current production cycles) I wouldn't be surprised if they come out with the EM1 with sound to boot.

Way back, in the fifties or sixties, one of the mags did a story on these locomotives complete with a description of a cab ride.  The engine was working a mine run out of Benwood, WV and used mine run coal for fuel.  At some later point in the story the stoker jammed and the engine had to be hand fired.   The fireman was not a happy camper to be sure.  Later it was revealed that the cause of the problem was a mine roof bolt that became wedged in the stoker.

That usually comes after the "wow! factor..

And sadly the "wow" factor turns into the "how" factor.
