Light months allow you to prepare (save) for the heavy months.

That sounds so wrong

I have to disagree with Larry completely. Many months they announce more in N than in HO and they ship about as much HO as N.......when they ship. So we had a lite month. The only thing that bothers me right now is the Trainman sets aren't scheduled to get here until after Christmas and now is when we REALLY need them. Makes it harder to sell more Atlas N True track.

Atlas would be proud to read that since that's exactly what they love to read...Kudos for nothing but rehash models..

Check the cold hard facts and you will see HO has gotten lots of NEW models since we got the GP15-1..

Shipping has absolutely nothing to do with tooling a new locomotive or car-shipping hasn't stop them from announcing and then releasing new HO on a routine bases.

We haven't even seen the release of the N Scale coil car but,HO has come and gone with a second run just announce.

So ig you look at new products since January 2010, Atlas HO leads N 6-4 in new models looking strictly at Atlas designed plastice models. That does not count the Laser Kits, Vehicles another company made but Atlas marketed OR the ex-Btanchline cars.  As far as locomotives, HO has a 1-0 lead.  The difference and this is where you do have a point is that Atlas has delivered on 4 of those models in HO vs none for N, but one is coming online now and another is not far off.

I still don't see where manufacturers are giving up on N in general. Yes Wally World thinks N scale is a nuisance and don't count on ANYTHING from Athearn in the N tooling category. Exactrail, yeah, so they are blowhard. But, we do have a model  coming from Bluford that HO scalers don't have. We are finally about to 89' Flats coming from 2 companies. Fox Valley has another version of the GP60 and a new caboose coming. Bachmann has a new loco out. Micro-Trains is popping new HW passenger cars and releases a new covered hopper. And Brian has a new Boxcar.

We all can't get what we want all the time and it could be better, but it's not hardly as dry as it could be. The loco dry spell nmay last a while longer though. But when the levee breaks, well, I call dibs on the first one and it'll be the AS616!  :D

I think it was actually worse about 8-10 months ago - there was a point where it had been over 24 months of no new tooling in N from Atlas.  But it's definitely improved...

Hope springs eternal!  Funny thing is a lot of the stuff I hoped for 24 months ago I could care less about today.

Hey, there's some deja vu.  The KCS Geeps that were originally announced in an MR ad a year ago then just disappeared getting announced all over again.  Wonder if this time it's for real.

I'm very grateful for those companies and I'll add Kato that is producing new  N Scale models but,Atlas is another story since they lead the way in  N Scale since the mid 60s.

I find it inexcusable that Atlas hasn't tooled any new N locomotives since the GP15.They have released a limited use trash car and the forth coming coil car but, that's nothing and they're not even resupplying the  N Scale Trainman cars that was suppose to be "available"..

Looking at the number of HO releases compared to  N Scale releases for December its a tad lopsided 3-1.

If that much HO can be shipped why not N Scale?

It all adds up to they are  indeed catering to the larger HO market.

You should have read the weak knee excuse they gave me for not wanting to tool a SW1500.It was laughable at best.

Are you really up on your soapbox over ONE month's Atlas HO/N ratio?  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

If you think I'm on a soap box you're sadly mistaken.

I have sent e-mails to three manufacturers for new  N Scale products almost on a monthly bases.I urge everybody to speak up for new products.

Unlike the majority of  N Scalers I won't remain silent and say thank you for another rehash bone toss my way.

BTW..I have no vested interest beyond being tired of being treated like a redheaded stepchild by the manufacturers because I model in  N Scale.

We have needs as well as the HO guys.

Jason, I only counted the two manufacturer's that have provided stock numbers that can be ordered and have product on the way. I did not differentiate between the BLMA versions of the same car nor the Atlas model that hasn;t officially been announced with road names and product numbers. I don;t think I missed another manufacturer.

So is the second Micro-Trains?

There's Con-cor and N scale kits too.

And in your mind the current economic environment is no factor in this, right?  New product is being released.  You're beef is that new tooling isn't being introduced every other month.  Well that's not going to happen.   New tooling investments aren't recovered with only one or two releases, and no one is growing money on trees.  So "rehashed bone tosses" have always been and will continue to be the reality, unless you have a spare $100k every other month that you can infuse as a stimulus.

Sometimes it's forgotten that this isn't Wall Street money that is in this hobby.
