Decals nearly done.   Need to paint the anti-reflective hood and underframe of the C9-44CWL.  I put them on the layout to see how they would look.

Awesome work Scott!   What did you use for the handrails & grabirons?

If it works out well enough, I may add to it and eventually build Tyler a small layout, if the model railroading bug bites him.
DFF

after the baby and things settle down, give the wife some quiet time and bring Tyler down on a saturday, swing by MBK, show him the layouts, then come on over and he and Madison can run trains.  We'll convert him in no time!

Heck, if you can make it down between x-mas and new years, we can schedule a visit @ the B&O as well.  Make it the 26th or 28th and i will be there runnin' trains with some folks you might know and then we can head over to my place.

Bryan, Thought you had finished those already.  I'm waiting for decals before I work on them...

Hey did you see in the latest MR they called a Erie milk car a "converted troop kitchen baggage car"   :RUEffinKiddingMe:

I'll move forward on the decals after the holiday crunch.  I might just have Microscale do them if they come close in price to the other place.

Didn't see the current MR yet.  That is annoying though.

I finally finished up this ES44AC as I kept Conrail around for another 10 years before they were inevitably split...  I will always have a soft spot in my heart for big blue since that is all I remember seeing while growing up in North Central Ohio on the Chicago line.  Maybe I'll go back in time or even divide my era's accordingly, but until then, the paint shop got a hold of this one and slapped a patch on her...  :(   My license...  :D

Ed, the grab irons and stanchions on the SD60 are etched stainless steel that came with the Kaslo kit.  There are two types of grabs on these locos.  The stanchions are beautiful and they are connected at the base with a metal strip that goes into a slot in the locomotive porch.  This gives them rigidity and curves them to fit.  The other rails are formed from fine brass wire, probably 0.008" (but I don't know, it was in my tool box).

The Kaslo etched fret is a wealth of detail items:  fan covers, grills, stanchions, grabs, antennae, mu's, lift rods, ladders and other items.

In April 2011 I took a 1977 BCR work train with me to Calgary and ran it on  my friend Andy Thomas' layout, who models BC Rail in 2002.  This weekend it was my turn to host a "blast from the past" as friend David Morgan dropped by for a visit.  David models the PGE in 1962 and we ran a short freight train up the helix and down again.  The Bachmann 70-Ton diesel struggled mightily up the grade but made it all the way - very impressive little engine I must say.

The Dawson Creek Subdivision opened in October 1958 at which time the railway's roster comprised RS-3s, RS-10s, RS-18s, and the 70-Tonners which were the PGE's first road diesels.

EP,

If all works out well, I will definitely take you up on your offers.  I think Tyler will really enjoy it.

P.S.  Tyler just came in and is looking over my shoulder: he likes this emoticon a lot.   :ashat:  I think that's a great sign.

Played more with my brass K4.  The crooked PSC-factory lettering is apparent at track-level:

I also took some overview shots just to kind of show how everything relates to everything else.  At present I don't have permanent backdrops; any backdrop you see (other than the one that divides the two doors) in my photos is a photo prop.

Enola is already clogged...

The shops, however, have plenty of room for more locomotives!

Lastly, an overview of the original part of the Juniata Division:

Terrific views Dave!

The difference between the Supertrees and the others is striking.

Got started on a B&M buggy bash for a friend. Need to make about six of them.
I started with the Atlas Standard Cupola caboose and have shortened it a bit.
Still need to do a lot of fit and finish work yet.

Dave, your layout just rocks.  Plain and simple.  Every angle seems to be a photo-op waiting to happen.  (insert Wayne's World "we're not worthy" scene here)

And Jon, I'm diggin the shorty caboose! :)
