Some of the printing, like in the area of the refrigeration unit, looks pretty sloppy.

This model looks f'ing good to me.  If only it could have been the BNSF or Tropicana model.   Sigh, but wow.

I would agree had these been shots of the HO scale units. Given that the image is roughly 4-times the size of the model (on my screen anyway), I say they look downright awesome. Me thinks it's time to add graffiti and model So. Schenectady. :)

Cheers!

Agreed. What a messed up situation. Who'd have thought we'd see duelling FT's again, but I guess we're only likely to see more of it as N scale comes of age.

Compare it to models made in the same time frame as other manufactures. It has nothing to do with HO vs N. Look at similar paint areas on other parts of the car and they are crisp and clear, while the ends have some blemishes.

As small as  N Scale is once you get it on the layout and away from the magnifying glasses that would be noticeable-just like HO.

I'm not saying that is acceptable but,as much as I been on the manufacturer's back for new  N Scale products I think a little slack is in order especially for a preproduction sample..

Some times I feel I'm bashing my head against the wall of course the ear tickling is nice. :|

That's what you take away from the posted pictures?? Wow, I can't believe you are serious.  You must be a BLMA groupie.

Why isn't there a gap between the roof and the car sides?

All 24 of my BLMA reefers have a very noticable gap, especially on each side of the door.   :(

I do as well, but if its not brought up it may not be corrected... especially when the printing on the car sides seems so much better.

Yes it is what I take away from the posted pictures, and I am serious. Out of all that car has to offer, that's the ONE issue I had. I don't spoon feed people. Maybe ExactRail didn't notice it and now that it is brought up it will be corrected on the production models. Just look at their Conrail  boxcar fail....maybe if someone had brought that up before production it would have been fixed.  When you spend so much time on your own work, sometimes you miss the obvious things in it... that's why a fresh look from a stranger can be beneficial.

I am in no way a BLMA groupie, every one gets the same treatment. I guess you could say I'am and Atlas fan, but I was very critical of some things with the C40-8Ws.

I'm soooo glad these are out of my era and not at all common on my prototypes. With two mfg's offering them simultaneously, Mr Wallet would jump off a bridge!

The BLMA car has a separate roof.  The Exactrail car has the roof molded with the sides and ends.

Mike,

Thank you for posting the photo link.  Actually, I was able to see that difference right away, and I was attempting to a bit sarcastic!

I had originally planned on just getting the BLMA reefers, but now that I have seen the photo of the ExactRail cars, I am going to try to get a 24 car set of those as well.

And, if I cannot figure a way to fix the gap on the BLMA cars, they may get retired, and I will only operate the ExactRail cars.  :o
