Kato has just released their December 2011 announcements which include more GG1 variations, additional Metra and VRE bi-level cars, Gunderson MAXI 1 intermodal units in BNSF "swoosh" logo and a #2 wye Unitrack turnout.

Announcements on Model160 as Kato doesn't seem to have them on their website yet.

Damn look like I need another 5 striper.  As for the 4800 - did they even try and do the rivets?  Not a knock to Kato as I think it is a neat paint job and something for early Conrail fans to rejoice over.

From Kato's email.

"Note: While the prototype GG1 #4800 was a uniquely “riveted” molded GG1, this N scale release will use the same body shell as the standard Pennsylvania GG1."

Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

VIA bi level cars...excuse me Gracie............? CP Rail had bi-level cars for Montreal commuter use but as far as I know they never wore VIA colours and were not like the Kato cars............I stand to be corrected....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Typo Pud, I think they meant VRE, not Via.

I almost panicked there, but then saw that something for BNSF was being announced... whew.

Conrail painted a boxcar for Savings Bonds which used stars that looked like the same ones on the GG!.  I do believe they used the same stencils.

I'm loving that Conrail is getting some this time around, but the 4800 didn't stay in that scheme for very long.  She spent the better part of her CR career in blue.

More typical were black ex-PC G's with PC-style CR stencils, or the even more interesting DGLE G's with PRR single stripe and PC-style CR stencils.  Wonder if Kato would do one of those?

Hey, quick question...

I was messing around with my Kato Broadway Limited BM70M baggage car, and I remembered Bryan Busséy as having mentioned Kato not making enough on the Broadway tooling.  Yet, they apparently have flatly refused to release the BM70M separately.

A big part of Pennsy's parade of trains from the 30s to the 50s were mail trains, in which as many as a half dozen, sometimes more, BM70Ms and similar RPOs ran with express boxcars, RB50 express reefers, and B60b express cars made up a passenger-free consist,

If Kato offered the BM70M separately, I'd be in for at least 2 more.  Hell Gate Models offers a BM70k resin kit, which would be a nice complement to a few Kato BM70Ms.

Just sayin'.  I think a large number of Pennsy modelers would like to help them recoup at least the baggage portion of the Broadway.

They did offer singles when they had that web special on the Broadway cars, and it sold out in minutes.  However, I was told they are thinking about a possible BM70M two-pack, but it hasn't been put on the schedule as of a couple of months ago.  I'll ask in January when I see them.

That CR 4800 is just too cool.  Going to have to get one even though the body isn't riveted.

Also, nice to see a Tuscan 5-stripe re-run.  At least the engines are selling, even if the consist is stagnant.
