Nothing for me, but it's nice that some folks are getting the cabeese they need. And the MSRP is more than fair... the upcoming CN PSC vans are $50 per (no, not complainin', just sayin').

+1 for Ed, too. Any CR 86'er that is pre-CRQ is on my want list... can you model a line that served two or three different assembly plants without a dozen or more CR's in the mix? No, you can't.

The uber complex CPAA scheme is still eagerly anticipated.

How about some ballast hoppers to go with?  :)

Gary, I'm planning on buying any of the Walthers ballast cars I can find this weekend at OKC to strip and repaint to that UP scheme so that will ensure they will be announced next week.

I have seen a couple of mentions of a possible ballast car this past week...did I miss an inside tip somewhere?

Some of the MoPac's survived for some time as "shove platforms", MOW, offices, etc.   Here is a  pic of one near Pryor, OK that I've seen on several occasions.

These should be pretty popular. Ihave 2 guys interested in the MOPAC one already. Family Lines has been hit or miss in popularity around here, but these should do ok.

Preorder
placed with LHS.  Think they were surpised when I called on annoncement day.  I had absolutely no choice in the matter, Mr. Wallet was holding me hostage until he order was in at Trainmaster...

I'm not aware of anything - just wishing out loud.  By all means find some to repaint, we need this model.  ;)

CSX still has some of those caboose running around in the Bone Valley down in central FL.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

Are you talking about the "Water Fill" down on the frame or what?

Also wondering if the uniquely SP toolbox and raiings will be accurately represented?  How about the fire train to go with this?  A natural buy it instantly item for me.  Preorder is already in, but please help me set my expectations accurately...

I love the SP caboose!!  Now I just need to find something to pull it....Daylight PAs wont do, GS-4 wont do.  I believe my C628 and Trainmaster are to old, maybe my SD35 hung around long enough to overlap.

Craig, Tivo is right...they were using #1 as a test for a newroad caboose and for paint.

Brian, as for the loco's....the SD35's were already rebuilt and schleping around the Colton yard as switchers. I would recomend SD40-T2's and SD45's

Oh, okay the test lettering. No, this run will have the roman SOUTHERN PACIFIC in the rectangle over the bay windows on both sides as was used in regular service. If there is call for it, down the road, we can do the test scheme. I don't think it ever left Oakland (or even that siding) with that scheme, but if you guys want it (again, down the road...)

As for the railings question, there are some differences on the railings etc. As I'm sure you would guess, it just wasn't practical to build tools to do one road number of one road name...

Any
chance that properly coloured extra railings will be available as parts?  Some of are us brave enough to cut up the brand new model in an effort to get just a little closer to reality than 'stock' models.  We are Railwire Asshats, close is not necessarily good enough for us!

Thinking I need to paint up SP 7342 SD40R (Hmmm; Yellowbird or Daylight?), SD40R 7347 "Olympic "and SD44R 7399 'Daylight' to go with the C50-10.  I think that I remember SP#1 being parked somewhere around LAUPT during the 1984 Olympics and recalling still having different paint on each side.  No photos remain, so I cannot confirm this unreliable decaying memory with any kind of documentation.  I probably shot 300+ photos of 7342 and because of circumstances have none of those either...

Most of the railings (inboard from the steps anyway) on SP #1 are rectangular stock rather than the fabricated sheet stock on the MoPac etc. Better to start with Evergreen strip styrene if you really want to go whole hog...
