I wondered about the Pullman coach too, but i found a pic of one this evening. :scared:

http://www.thebluecomet.com/boPullmanGlenBriarBrunswick.jpg

It even looks very similar to the B&O prototype. The pic says it's in Brunswick MD in 1976.

Though, now that I look closer at it, I see that one of the middle windows isn't paired.  It looks close though (on this side anyway), and I can see how someone might get confused.

That's the bedroom side of a 6-3 Sleeper.  The opposite (aisle) side has half the windows.

See; what you guys forget is "Pullman" is Canadian for "strip me and make something else out of me"....relax, take a stress tab and enjoy the fact that we have another heavyweight......
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Maybe MTL will get around to offering the model in New Haven's "New Image" scheme, to match the WOT baggage car.  Then the only noticeable modification needed will be to swap in four-wheel WOT trucks.

I have come to assume that some of you work at hobby shops and thus get a dealer's preview list and look at each month's MTL releases.  On occasion, some one actually posts a link to pictures of the new releases.

Am I the only one who experiences some level of frustration as I read through monthly posts of this type and find
1. no photos
2. immediate criticism of one or more of the MTL new releases
3. minimal positive feed back
???  :?

I do model the WWII era and I am interested the MTL coaches.   I will be very delighted when the B&O version of the coaches are released.  In the meantime, I will check on the new releases and have my LHS hold the ones I want to purchase.  :)

There are a few here that I'm sure have already crapped in people's stockings.

I just ordered 6 of the "Pullman" coaches and fully intend to strip the lettering off of them and repaint them.  As long as they produce the car, I really don't care what it is lettered for.  I'm just happy to have an excellent model of a coach.  They're very easy to break down into parts as well; no problem to paint.  Perhaps some others should do the same.

Roger, sometimes it just takes a little effort.  I was looking at this thread last night when it still said November, and N-Scale Supply already had their pics up then.  If that's not the first or second place you look for MTL pics, it should be.

Regarding feedback, well you may have a point there.  I am surprised that the FIRST reaction out of these guys is that everything's a ridiculous foobie,  (as opposed to a "garden variety foobie"...I doubt that with the standards here that we could agree on almost ANY MTL release being based on a prototype...LOL.  Kidding, sort of)   especially knowing MTL's history of doing the oddest of odd-ball stuff they can find.   I expect Railwire to be more constructively critical of EVERYTHING, which is why I like it.   But there's constructive criticism, and then there's  Atlas forum criticism.   I think sometimes Railwire falls into that latter category unfortunately. (myself included, on occasion...   )

I will say that on the positive side I like that MTL did some more BN bulkheads.   They are pretty scarce on the 'bay except for the collector 6-packs and so forth.   I will definitely be in for one or both.  I also like the pipe load on the Southern flat.   Not sure if that's new or just new to me but it seems plausible.  EDIT: Nevermind on the pipe load...I was looking at it last night via my iPhone...looking at it now there appears to be a hideous warp to the load, and the bottom pipe just disappears into the floor on the ends.   Seriously?  I'm guessing it was designed for a gon?   Arggh....see that's what happens when you try to be positive around here!!!!

Hold on some of you.  I think we have some valid questions for MT on this release.  As Dr. Phil would say "What were you thinking".

Joe, I wish you would chime in on this and explain why a Pullman coach.

And yest, they are a decent start on removing the lettering and redecaling for your road as the green color was used by bunches of railroads.

You could slap numbers 990 - 995 on the Pullman coach and be close, though the prototype was a considerably different creature.  They were Plan 2416 parlor - drawing room cars that were rebuilt as coaches and leased to the GN in 1935.  GN bought them from Pullman in 1938.  Here is a link to their floorplan, before GN modernized the cars...

Bob,

I think you are missing my point as well.  As I said before, I really don't care what lettering they are putting on it as I end up repainting all of their passenger cars into my specific railroad anyways.  If the prototype coach ever carried the "Pullman" lettering on it (I'm guessing it did not) is irrelevant to me.  The fact that I don't have to make do with the under-detailed Rivarossi coaches (which were great in their day) is what matters most to me.

My two cents; take it for what it's worth.

Roger,
It makes little sense to scan the newsletter and post photos when pics will be on the MTL website Wednesday night and elsewhere prior to that.  It's not as if this news is coming weeks or months in advance of the release.  The newsletter arrives within a few days of end-of-month.  And I reported the releases without criticism, but it's hardly criticism to mention when a fantasy scheme being marketed as prototypical is released.  I'm guessing any positive feedback will appear when photos of the releases are seen.

As mentioned up-thread, N-Scale Supply, Feather River and BLW all post MTL release pics on their sites prior to the first of the month.

Fellow Railwirers, do not take my comments so seriously.   It is a hobby, for fun.
I do appreciate the link, Mike.
Generally I start checking BLW about this time of month and did so this morning earlier.

I think this is a perfectly timed release of the Pullman coach with this item:
