Still recovering from back surgery, but did do a little work.

First I added a Deluxe Innovations Armco yard office to Enola:

Then I weathered a pair of BLMA gons.  I didn't feel up to setting up the airbrush compressor with all of my restrictions on healing, so went with washes.  Also weathered the interiors:

Then I worked on a Conrail N5C cabin from Bowser.  Mods include:

Removal of roofwalks, moving the smoke jack to the correct end of the cupola, painting the cupola, painting the plaforms and end rails, adding aluminum inserts to the windows using a silver Sharpie, adding wheel inspection dots, and lowering the bolsters a bit.  Weathering done with washes:

Lastly, a CR work train made up mainly of PRR and PC equipment rolls into Lewistown:

Allen, those ore jennies are phenomenal!   I would love to have a dozen of those in various PC and CR schemes, with maybe an original PRR.  Ever do them with some of the insulation some received?

Dave I did try to do a Woolie/G39A as they were affectionately know but it was a dismal failure .

I have a few more ideas on how to get it done but have not had a chance to give it a try yet my biggest problem is trying to find a foam to glue on fine enough.

And thanks for the compliments I was thinking of making these available to the Railwire community as a kit if anyone was interested and as I have said I have the G39 and G39a done as well.

Dave love the yard office scene and the Fairlane. Stove should
be going with a fresh pot on.

I have a new airbrush and spray booth, so some projects are moving forward.  All CN units (left to right): SD50, C44-9 (2500 series), SD60 and GP40.    EMD units will be zebras, and GE will be North American scheme.   Black paint is next and I have a C44-9 Hamersley cab unit on deck.

I finished about 600 sq ft of hardwood flooring that I have been working on since March.  Now I can send the floor nailer straight back to hell, where it came from :scared:

Have you tried just some white glue and fine turf? I've seen it done in HO, and with some paint and dry brushing, very, very convincing... Plus, the rock hard turf doesn't crumble when handled...

might scale nicely to N as well..

just a thought..

That is one beautiful steam locomotive.   Too bad none of the manufacturers think it would sell.   Of course I am biased, being a Pennsy guy.

If the HO market can support, what, 4 manufacturers making K4's, surely the N scale market can support one.  Max has shown pretty conclusively that an N Scale K4 could be manufactured that would easily out-pull the prototype.  Oh well, for the time being I'll have to make due with some Max-improved Minitrixes.

Enjoyed some casual running with Brian, Bryan and Tim today.  More news about that in the layout engineering reports.  Here's the photogenic part of the week...

The fresh plywood there on the lower left will be the PPG Plate Glass plant.  In reality this was on the other side of Cumberland, down by Mexico Farms, but it generated an interesting variety of traffic, and I have room for a large building and a couple of spurs, so it made the cut.  It will be reached via a switchback that comes off there next to the Wills Creek beam bridge.

The switchback tail runs along the bottom edge of Wills Creek, there behind the Cumberland control panel.  The creek itself will be fitted out with a concrete channel, per the prototype, which should make this scene quite recognizable to anyone familiar with Cumberpatch.

Chuck, thanks!  Meant to look like one of those drab, run-of-the-mill scenes that you don't notice unless they're not there.

Nice weathering job on the bridge David.
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

So this is what I needed code 40 rail for:

You may recognize the trackplan ;)  But I did reverse it and will try to make it my own. It's Z scale and since it was based on a N scale 36x80" door, mine is 26x58"

Still need rail to finish up the sidings, but both mainlines are now running.
