N&W CF Cabin complete...for real this time.

I finished up the grabs and added some scratch built underframe detail. It's done as far as I'm concerned.

















I would like to offer it as a kit but there is quite a bit of hand bending and scratch building of parts. I'm not sure it would be for everybody. I need to find a better source for the frame details as I wouldn't expect anybody to whittle them out as I did. The end grabs are modified from a GMM set for the MP Bay Window caboose.

At least my Y-3 has something to drag behind it now.

I only noticed one thing. You missed the adding the grabs from the coupola to the roof edge.

Those grabs were not used on all of them or were at least removed later. In fact the one in the photo was about the only one I found with them installed.

BLMA 33"

Very well done, sir.  If you're looking for more detail, did you notice the four bolts on the caboose side underneath the cupola windows, which probably are securing interior appliances?  Kinda gives it a subtle happy face with the cupola as the eyes.  Another detail is the rectangular splashguards mounted to the endrails.  Again, the caboose already looks fantastic.   Thanks for sharing.

 Thanks, I didn't think those were 28" wheels. I still have a version of that side on shot scaled into Corel Draw and the wheels measured around 32". I figured there was some distortion in the photo so 33 is right.

 Sorry, they will be FVM wheels. BLMA doesn't make wheels to fit Atlas trucks. I prefer to use Atlas trucks on a caboose build because of the bolster hole offset built into the MT trucks. Just makes one more thing to measure and get right.

Rain gutters over steps.
Push pole cups on the ends.
Marker light brackets on the corner support posts.
Cut levers.

I decided it was good enough for me. I don't even model N&W, I just wanted to see if I could make a car with my vinyl cutter and my Y-3 needed a partner.

I have a CG cut and ready to go but some other projects need to get done first.

Plus MTL doesn't make a friction-bearing leafspring truck.  The Atlas truck frame is the only option.
