Tore up some perfectly good GP30s





Started a low brick building on my ADM crossing module.



Roughed out the second bridge support on it a few days ago.

This has been a busy week for me. With the Gandy Dancers' help, I got Tortoises installed and most of the wiring done in the upper saying yard. Also, we cut the deck for the grade up from upper staging, along with the base for the passenger yard.

I also made a few purchases for a project that I've wanted to do for a long time. I had this:

I think you need to drop an axle or model a 4-8-2.     Nice work as always.

Thanks to both you and Ed, very kind! As for that 1st picture, I have found that my urban modules do not have a great deal of ideal photo locations but that spot is one of them!

I got a little decaling done.  Would have been more, but the CGW herald is proving to be a pain.  I didn't want to get too aggressive when I first applied it because of the age of the decals and the fact that it did start falling apart, but it's not holding up to Solveset too well either.

We're going to call the the 'practice side' for now, assuming I can do better on the other side.  Might not have been the best decaling project to start with after a long hiatus, but it is what it is.

Given Solvaset's strength, it almost always curls up decals like that.  But once it evaporates it should settle down nicely (assuming the photo is still in the "wet" stage).

I'll just have to try and force in into the grooves a little better on the initial placement next time.  I'm wondering if the adhesive weakens over time because when I was trying this the first time, I had a hard time keeping it from springing back straight.  Or maybe I just didn't let the Microset work long enough.  It's been a while and decaling has always been my weakest modeling attribute (after my attention span and impatience).

I still have some of the paint left over.  If I can get the other side done well enough, I may just touch up this middle section.  All I want is show CGW modelers what the scheme will look like on the Trainworx trailer so they'll buy a bunch and I don't have to feel guilty about suggesting it.  It's pretty well set that he'll do these, so I could quit now (if I was smart) and wait.

Oh, and I expect you to buy at least a dozen.

My wife and I went to the Towson-Richmond football game last night with Lee Weldon and his family.  We had a blast on a beautiful evening in northern Baltimore County, Maryland, notwithstanding the Spiders' loss by a mere field goal on the last play of the game.  But, it was a great game that really got exciting in the fourth quarter when Richmond tied the game at 21-21 with a two-point conversion.  Final score: 31-28 in a Towson Tigers win.  To top off a great night, we arrived at the stadium in two cars but tried to get as close as we could to drop off Lee's family and my very pregnant wife.  Despite the parking attendants telling us we would have to make u-turns and park at some garage off-site, we pulled up to the stadium and somehow managed rock-star parking for both cars.  Literally the first row outside the gate.  Gotta love it.  We'll never top that deal!  Luckily, my wife wasn't upset with me when I told her that I parked closer than the point where I dropped her off.   

Not much happened on the subject of trains for me this week, except that I was in the area of the Ma & Pa's old abandoned grade and saw a couple of abutments that remain to this day.  I also won an eBay auction while at the football game last night that I had forgotten that I even bid on last weekend.  I won a brand new Atlas N scale Family Lines (SCL) B23-7 and an Atlas Extended Vision Caboose decorated for the Family Lines (SCL) for $50.00.  Have you ever sold anything that you later regretted?  Yeah, I owned this loco and caboose before, but thankfully, I got new replacements for only a few bucks more than I sold the old well-used ones several years ago.  The best part is that I really wanted the caboose back (which had done a good job of eluding me, since they were produced many years ago) and, for this price, it was like getting it free with the purchase of the B23-7.  These will fit in nicely and add some variety to my Seaboard System fleet.

We hope you and your family made it home safely, Lee, and that you didn't back your car into anything else.    I know that you didn't think I would let that go.  Cyn and I hope to see you all again soon.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend, all!

How thick of a restore coat did you put on the decals? That would explain the apparent stiffness.

Yes, had a great time with the Foxxes and the Weldons and a couple of Hevesys too.  Great night for football, and good to see the Spiders go down the waterspout for the first time in living memory as a Tiger partisan.  It was a pleasant diversion between marching band performances.

Train wise, I've got everything re-staged for next Sunday's shake down, and today, once the household chores are done, I'll be working on wiring up the turnouts and frogs in the east yard throat to cut down on the stallzy wallzy switcher issues.

Love the flat car scene, Pud, and Daryl, the bridge is magnificent.  My only issue is that it should have been moved out from the wall so you could actually make it operate!!

Gotta love those High nose 30's, too.  Used to watch them go in and out of Pot Yards back when there was a Pot Yards...

Got some spare money and time to get some test protos for some pet projects.  Finally rendered New Haven EP4 parts, particularly the pilot to test the interface with Kato GG1 parts with a shortened pilot truck distance from the drivers and how small a radius it would traverse.  Once it cleared 11" I was happy.  Some minor mods required to keep the pilot level under the Kato front truck spring.
