FYI - Springs Mills Depot (HO) and Prototype N Scale Models (N) commissioned FVM for a limited-run three-pack that features three 1950s schemes, including two with Timesaver designations.  See the Spring Mills ad here:

http://smd.cc/MattM53/matt.htm

PNS had the same three schemes/reporting marks run for the N three-pack.  They will be in stock this week.  To order from PNS, email George at proto.nscale@yahoo.com.  And, when I was researching which if any of these three schemes would be appropriate for me, I learned that cars marked with the (T) graphic meant they were qualified for Timesaver service as opposed to designated for Timesaver service, and that these cars did indeed travel off road.

Hope it's just the photo. They look too brown, should be more red.

That's the early scheme brown, the later schemes have the proper red hue.

The brown is the "as built" scheme and is the right color. The late scheme is a much brighter red but too late for me so I didn't pick any up. My cut-off is 1950 so it will save me a little cash at least.

I just assumed they were all the redder color. Guess most color shots would have been later though.

:D Tony, thanks for sharing the news and the photos.   I have had these ordered so long that I must admit I forgot some of the details.   I did not remember, but they appear to have body mounted couplers.
I also appreciate seeing the various paint and lettering schemes you posted.
I have tried to limit myself to an early era, but some of the newer vintage is very enticing.

Tony, thank you for the pictures.  I have them on order but might have to wait until they are sent to me...

I still have several FNS kits of these cars, and only painted a couple of them, all in the later color.  What paint would be correct for the earlier schemes, and how do the fit into the "Barkan-diagram"?  It is my intention to finish the FNS kits, too, and the correct color would help.

If my backlog in FNS kits is an indicator for future developments, the Pennsylvania X31 cars might be just around the corner  ;)
Actually, it also worked for the Milwaukee cars, after the first JnJ car I built the FVM cars came.

Did N scale get a removable door on their model? Or is it cast in place?

That scheme should be out soon. Not a foobie, that may be the most popular scheme. We have a bunch of those on pre-order.

Nope, it's a valid variation. I have to dig through the info on the B&O group but looking at the color guide, most of the cars are Brown or boxcar red. The Oxide red came later. There are also many variations of the paint within the same era including examples of the B&O and Capitol Dome swaping left / right on the car oposite the diagrams. If you want perfect, you need to reference pictures which is I believe is how Matt was chosing paint schemes and road numbers for these.

Did N scale get a removable door on their model? Or is it cast in place?

The door is a seprate piece on from the body. They are not openable but removable. There are at least 4 door variations if I remember.
