Awesome.  I saw a photo of one of the painted pilot samples a few months back and it looked very cool.  Looking forward to adding one of these to the fleet.

One more time.

What year was the 13 great states logo first used?

From the book 'The Post War Freight Car Fleet':

"...was decorated in the "Early 13 Great States" scheme used from mid-1945 to mid-1946."

I'll see if I can find more.

I didn't bring any home with me tonight. Ran out of the shop in a hurry and forgot. Pictures tomorrow evening.

I believe there were a few converted to express service that wore blue. I need to dig out the books and check.

At the N Scale convention, Matt told us that B & O had two painted blue and to look for them in a future release.

Tony,

Perhaps this is a dumb question, but which in Barkan's diagram matches FVM's late billboard scheme? Barkan's Capital Dome billboard is missing the "Baltimore & Ohio" above the logo that FVM has and the closest after that, the Billboard 13 Great States, has the obvious logo difference.

Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

The FVM Late billboard is based on "Capitol Dome Billboard" 1962 - ?.  There were variations beyond what is shown on that sheet. I have seen the photo's Matt was working from and the version does exist.

I didn't doubt FVM and figured there were variation, but not being the B&O-head, I needed to know which to buy for my layout. The billboard it is!

I guess, for variety's sake, I should ask - would one be able to find one of the flat door 13 great states cars in service in the late '60s? If not I suppose I should wait for a Time Saver or Sentinel billboard in a future run...
