Yep,  that's it.  I'll check, but I would bet that my shot is about the same as yours.

Hey, Ed, why don't you ask one of the CRHS cronies in Marysville to run out in the backyard and shoot that very tunnel or retaining wall for you?    Otherwise, with some time, I might be able to shoot a straight-on, close-up pic of a single-arch stone bridge in Newark, Del. on the Northeast Corridor or possibly a retaining wall near the Susquehanna River bridge.  Lemme know.

EDIT: My shot of that marble plaque looks identical to yours, Lee.  Oh well...

Ed, Google "stone texture" images - you will find massive numbers of tileable stone textures you can use...

These are used heavilly in 3D design and there are tons and tons of free sites out there.  Also try renderosity.com to start (free to join)

Exactly, but none of the sites I came across were any good. Does renderosity have anything good? If so I'll sign up.

Thanks everyone else for the help! I may just head to the bridge this weekend and shoot something myself.

Hi Ed:

Here are a couple of straight on views of PRR stone work.  I believe the bridge is Shermans Creek and the wall is the western end of the Enola approach subway at Rockville bridge.  These should tile well with some cleanup.

Doug.

Ed - definitely try renderosity - but another one I forgot about is sharecg.com

I've used both of these sites extensively and found a lot of useful textures (and models)

I’ve been looking for the same thing. I’m trying to build the Bessemer Bridge Pier and could not find anything in the height that I need. I tried capturing a photo from Goggle Maps, but the quality and angle will not work for me. I managed to print out something to glue on to some pieces of wood that I cut for the piers, but as up1950s mentioned, texture is very important and I didn’t like it at all.

I’m now trying to get some stone block dimensions so that I might be able to carve something only I have 4 piers approx 10” high. And it’s going to be a real chore.

Frankly I think that the texture is equally important as the color . The color can be mimicked , but the texture is the eye catcher as the headlight highlights it passing through at the portals .

Can this be heated and bent ?

I am really interested in these, but Walthers doesn’t give much information about them which is surprising. I can’t tell by the photo how big they are, but it looks as if it might cost me at least a $100 for what I want to do.
