Chris' Harlem Terminal trackwork inspired me to get off my a$$hat and rebuild another turnout fixture, this one a 4-turnout fixture with two curved, one wye and one ??.  The goal is to rip out the current fixture, which works probably 90% good, and replaced it with improved turnouts with powered frogs.

Before the BlackenIt bath:

After the BlackenIt:

Checking to make sure it actually "turned out" the correct curvature:

Next steps:
Build styrene bases for handthrows / slide switches (they go under the throwbar in a pocket)
Gorilla Glue bases / install handthrows & slide switches
Wire frogs
Test all works, electrically, BEFORE I rip out the old
Install new fixture
Slip replacement ties under the rails
Re-scenick & re-ballast

If this one turns out anything like the 2-turnout fixture I already rebuilt on the left side of the layout, then it's gonna be sooper-smooth railsailing from now on!

No work, just stimulated the economy getting the essentials before the big blow in the NE.  Flash light, batteries, water, and Reefers of course. (all pun intended)

These things are sickest thing rolling these days on code 55. Didn't even have any need for reefers at first, but now I'm gonna have to get a whole set... dammit Craig!

I was very fortunate to be able to attend the annual N Scale Weekend hosted by Mike Phillips and the Bedford Model Railroaders, in Bedford, Pennsylvania.  Wonderful people and a great time had by all.  Hope you can feel like you were there too by enjoying the photos.

Here's the album:  http://www.pbase.com/atsf_arizona/n_scale_wkend_2011&page=all

And here's a couple of shots:

One of the many NTrak layouts, this is the Central Ohio (Columbus) NTrak:

Tom Hoover's Santa Fe Barstow Shops - notice the use of mirror and how Tom was able
to put all this into a 2' long NTrak module :-) :

Here's Thurmond, WV:

Charles Hopkins was there with his loads and custom paint jobs:

And here's Randgust's incredibly great little Hickory Valley, 2' x 4' with hidden staging below,
just superb.  Randgust ( http://www.randgust.com ) built this layout back in 1975 while at
the university.   Great!

As well as Randgust's critters, such as this fully working Heisler:

Thx to Mike Phillips, all the Bedford Model Railroaders, and all the NTrak-ers and N scale
people who were there.  Hope you enjoy the photos, again, that URL is:

I think I have the MR issue that had the article on that neat little layout.

The Skunkwerks figured out the lighting options on the Super-Berk and tested a temporary wiring setup. Should finalize the wiring this week after function mapping is complete. The paintshop is also wrapping up another GP-20 in Laurel Valley colors.
