Con-Cor Hudsons and detailing them.... IDEA!!!

I was looking at the Con-Cor Hudsons online. Still need to get 2 with scullen discs to do my ESE Hudson kits from Fine N Scale when I realized something.

The etched (brass?) details would be perfect to use on the Hudson shells from Con-Cor to help detail the lacking appearance of them. Since they dont normally have handrails or grab irons except for what is molded in, the ones from Fine N Scale would be perfect to help add grab irons and handrails with, and I think it would dramatically enhance the looks of the Con-Cor model.

I wonder if Fine N Scale would sell the extra details separately from the ESE kit, which would only help their sales. And since they already have them designed and made, it wont take any engineering to do. Just run a batch and put them for sale.

Thoughts?

(now all we would have to do is get some good siderods and crosshead replacements for that horrible plastic parts)..... lol

If Con Cor actually re-issues this loco, as is rumored, a super-detail kit would be perfect project for GHQ, as they have done for the Kato Mikado and the SR and CB&Q sets. Start lobbying now, as GHQ moves at a glacial pace and its marketing is based on mystery.

True, from the rumors Con-Cor is going to revamp the Hudson. I will belive it when I see it. Dont get me wrong, as a NYC modeler, I am all for NYC Steam. Correct Steam power.

I wonder if any of the Bachmann Heavy Mountains would be a good canidate for a GHQ kit to do a L2a Mohawk? That would be awesome.

But I digress...

I think that with all those old Hudsons out there, being able to pick them up and give them a good detailing with parts Fine N Scale is already making would be pretty cool.

I'll have to try it......after I get my ESE kits done.

Actually, I had thought the same thing. I've also wanted some IC steam power and have been gathering info to submit to GHQ. With my professional background in the nonprofit sector, I've done my share of fund raising, and the first rule is, if you don't ask, then you've told yourself "no" already (where the person being asked may surprise you and say "yes". Lesson is, it never hurts to ask.

Hell yeah!!!

I have been looking at the GHQ kits, and with and with a good feedwater heater, delta trailing trucks, I think the heavy mountain, with a three wheel trailing trucks on the tender, I think it would be a great fill in for the L2a Mohawk.
