For the thinnest possible cut, Dedeco offers .005-inch thick discs.

...Or sneeze in the same house.

I have sh*tty luch with those damn things, Not those disks specificly, just cutoff disks in genral.

If those are at all more durable or flexible, then I gotta try them!

No, they're not the slightest bit flexible. They do, however, make a flexible diamond disc that's pretty cool. Totally bendable, and because it has diamond grit, it lasts a long time.

I use the .009 ones.
They work great, though they do break just looking at them.
The trick, I've found, is to keep them on the mandrel and remove the mandrel after using.
As in, before you put the dremel down & break the disc by a slight misplacement or to heavy of a "drop".

I wonder at what point the cut is so thin that the wheels act as the bridge, or the current could "jump" and short something.
After cutting with the .009 ones, I've had tiny metal flakes around the cut that have popped when I powered up the track.
Now I make sure to blow / toothbrush the areas before electrifying them.

But love those discs.
Just wish they'd remain intact a bit longer.

Model railroader bling.
Will match my gold-plated Dremel.
Peace out, yo.

Flexible diamond coated disk - had some of those and they laste much longer than the normal sand paper coated one.  Never had one break unless I intentional broke one (don't ask).

Those diamond one look good and they are only .007" thick?  That is thinner than my .009" peanut brittle ones. Next order I will get some.

They're not .007; more like .011. But that's still pretty thin, and you can see how flexible they are.

I use the .009 disks also. I've found they last almost as long as the thicker disks, as long as I use them with some care and don't tackle too big a job. As MC Fujiwara mentioned, I think I've broken more disks putting the Dremel down than when actually cutting. The thinner disks were essential in cutting some slots (on ships mostly) that couldn't be cut beforehand. Now, with a digital cutter and much better drawing skills, I can precut the slots, and use the Dremel mostly for rapid removal of stock with either a sanding drum or the fabulous drum cutter.
