So I got from Matt that FVM does not make a 38" wheel. So no stand-in til the Deluxe Innovations 38" wheel is available. At least there's no mods needed.

Mind if I ask how sales are going? Has anyone here received and completed the kit yet?

Good question. I went to the website and submitted an email requesting how to order ("Email us for more information"). Been a long time since I did that, no response.

Look earlier in this thread, it gives the address where to send the money.  I sent my bucks and got the kit in about two weeks.   Very little flash on the parts.  No resin bubbles present.    Been cleaning off the flash on some of the parts.    With daily grind at work it is going to take awhile to finish the kit.  Over all I am happy I got the kit.  The only complaint is the trucks I brought the wrong ones.  If robbman did not speak up I would have never paid attention.   Its bugging me that i missed that detail  so much for being a proto a$$hat. Now I have to give blma more bucks for the 100 ton 36 inch stand ins.      Such is life...........

How do we order?
The Scnabels are coming, the Scnabels are coming! THIS FRIDAY! After 7 years of research and modeling and refinement.
So I have resin kits showing up and the decals are due the same day. So I guess this is the true announcement, they are available.
The kit includes resin parts (47 pcs), a wire reinforced drawbar, etched metal details (2 frets) for railings, ladders, stirrups and more, decals for 4 paint schemes, instruction sheet and paint/decal guide.
Kit does not include trucks and couplers. Proper trucks are 70 Ton ASF with 33" wheels, currently available from BLMA (catalog # 9025 I believe).
Schnabel CEBX 800 kit, $165.00  Shipping $7.00
Also available are the Scnabel Caboose Collection Decals for 5 different cabeese for $6.00 and can be shipped with the Schnabel kit for no extra shipping costs of course.
I still have to resolve getting a PayPal account. So, for now, sales will be thru the normal mail.
Send check payable to : Elgin Locomotive Works
Send to : 1000 Morton Ave, Elgin, IL 60120

I sent a check and received my model promptly. I've had a look at the parts but haven't started construction yet. Glad I did not order trucks at the time I ordered the kit. Still need to get trucks.

As stated before, the castings look good and it shouldn't take a lot of effort to get them cleaned up for assembly.

My apologies to the folks that have emailed the website, I haven't been able to get Outlook set up so I can actually check the email at the site. Workin on it...    I have an account finally that I can tie a Paypal account to so that will happen soon too. Some day I will be a real business.
In other news, I am working on testing a rapid prototyped 125 ton truck. It will use the 38 inch wheels when available from Deluxe Innovations.
And the bolster height ill not change so anyone could swap out the standins with no mods. I'll let you all know when that is available.

Just a brief follow-up on the Kato 125T truck.  I measured the wheels and they are ~0.236" which scales to ~37.7", so a shade under 38".  The wheelbase on the truck is 6'0", so they do qualify as a proper 125T in my book.  I'm looking forward to seeing the Deluxe 38" wheels though, because the Kato wheels have a fairly wide tread.

I've been in touch with Mark; he's a very accommodating chap, and I recommend that, if all else fails, post a message for him here. Or, if you're able to find a stamp and an envelope, and remember how to make them work, send him a piece of paper with your message (and, optionally, your payment of $172) to Elgin Locomotive Works, 1000 Morton Ave., Elgin, IL 60120. It worked for me! My kit will soon be on its way.

Thanks, Mark, for producing an extraordinary kit of an extraordinary piece of rolling stock.

My kit arrived safe and sound today (thanks, Mark). While I have no idea when I'll actually get to build it, I do know in advance that it's going to provide many evenings of enjoyable work. If anyone wants pics or other info on the kit, I can provide them.

My kit arrived Saturday---very good casting; almost no flash except for 1 sprue.

What is the concensus for the best available truck/wheelset at the moment?
