Tom, this is an issue on the cookies setting on the forum. I have had to reset my PW, hard refresh, and the ONLY way not to get logged out is to open in a new window.

I had to reset my password to get in. My old password didn't meet standards (no capital letters) so perhaps that was the issue. New password set with the link provided by the forgotten password process and so far so good.

I have tried on both IE9 and FireFox, I've cleaned the cache (repeatedly) and added TRW to trusted sites (with lowered security settings to see if it would have any affect). Although I specify keeping me logged in "Forever" it logs me out or my cookies are being changed forcing logout (the only thing I haven't done is reset my password). Also I noted odd URL mask behavior, sometimes when I get the TRW url othertimes its the server host with complete path. When things begin timing out like submitting a post, I'll get a complete failure stating the server is not responding.

Just wanted to provide some feedback of what I'm seeing on the new server.

Chrome keeps me logged in, IE won't*.


edit: With IE, even when I'm logged in, if I open a second window, it's not logged in.

This is in regards to the repair_settings.php tool.

Please note that if you installed SMF earlier than version 1.0 RC1, you will probably need to use this tool to restore your forum to working condition after changing servers or domains.  For versions 1.0 RC1 and later, these changes should be automatically detected and fixed.

No, all the issues are related to domain masking.  Please use the netsolhost URL if you are having trouble.

sorry, but I don't like chrome, it is a very light browser that does not read all sites correctly. I would rather use Firefox, firefox reads HTML correctly.

Chrome is better than Safari. Why MAC still uses Safari is beyond me

Curiously, I would say the opposite: I find FF will gag on sites sooner than Chrome. And there are a few sites--not many, but a few--where I need to switch to IE.

Anyway, Chrome's "lightweightness" is an advantage: I find it's the fastest browser by far.

I got registered after the big shift.
"therailwire.net" stays static no matter what thread I jump to.
I have to log in every time I open railwire.
I can post text but when I post photos (even resized to 600x800) I get a white screen after clicking "post".

Are these issues that I need to fix something on my end (like a cookie issue or go to another url?) or will the forum software sort itself out in a day or two?

all of this stuff will go away in 3-5 days - the domain name is being transferred now to Tom's registrar .. once he takes ownership of it, the forum will respond properly ..
