Thanks Bob.  Someday I will strive to reach the level of scenery modelling you have attained. And I know I've said this before, but the feedback I get on this Board has made the layout so much better than it might have been.  Thank you all.

Now, if only track-laying were as simple as printing:

[This is my first attempt to post photos from Google photos.  The 7-line URL notwithstanding, it seems to work fine. I'm curious to know if others can see it.]

I can see it fine on my iPad /safari . Thatsa staging yard!

Yep me too.  8)

Are you planning to solder any/all of the rail joints on the curves?

Everything I've read says Google Photos does not support image emmbeding or BBC codes. So it is no longer a photo sharing site?

Yes!  Same procedure I followed in the Vortex: solder two sticks of flex together before shaping them, then form a 6' curve*.  This will be enough to get me into straight segments where unsoldered joints will do.

Everything I've read says Google Photos does not support image emmbeding or BBC codes. So it is no longer a photo sharing site?

Well, it seems that the procedure is: view the image in Google photos, right click on image and copy the address, paste into Railwire.  You can add width=NNN, etc. in the opening img tag.  We'll see if the address persists...

*It will be much easier to lay these curves than the ones in the helix because I won't need to snake them through the Vortex support columns.

Wellllllll... I'm back at home, and not seeing anything related to the picture. Not even the gray circle with the bar through it. Nothing. The quoted post from Otto is blank now, too; it had the image before. It's like the {img} code was completely removed.

EDIT: AHA!  I mentioned before that I block Google cookies in Firefox, but don't in Safari. So while I cannot now see anything at all in Firefox, I tried Safari, and saw an image-with-broken-link box. So I right-clicked to open the image in Safari... and... wait for it... got the Google account login page. Is there possibly an account, album or image setting that allows/prohibits anonymous external linking?

There are over 1000 images on this server. Not changing anytime soon.

I've been down this lad in other fora. You have to have your image security setting set to public. That aside Google has apparently decided to make image links that work for Facebook, LinkedIn and other similar social media. Most of them don't have a .jpg extension and so "traditional" forum software won't recognize them as images. I have been successful getting around that problem by accessing Google photos through the online version of Picassa, but Google is no longer providing support for that website so who knows how long it will work.

Still Nuttin' honey.  Neither Chrome nor Firefox...and address pasting doesn't work.

Might suggest using Flickr or Photobucket, they both work...

Google made me log in on my phone in order to see .... the circle with the dash.

Chrome on phone or Firefox on computer, logged into Google, doesn't work.

Sorry for the spam: here is another attempt.  If this doesn't stick, I'm abandoning Google.

Works for me in Firefox, Gary, while the first attempt did not.

Thanks all.  I re-posted the image a few pages up, after linking it to a brand-new shared album, and it seems to be working for everyone now.
