Wouldn't Atlas be the more logical choice to lobby for this?  The mechanism already exists, and technically the body and detail parts as well.  Only a new blank for the cab area and new handrails would need to be tooled - far less expensive than tooling a diesel from scratch, especially an esoteric prototype.

Des Plaines Hobbies has a conversion available: http://www.desplaineshobbies.com/store/product/31607/N-GP7-9-B-CONV-KIT/
The only hangup is you're on your own for splicing walkways and handrails.

I have tried Atlas many times , now I am thinking out of the box wrapped in red tape .

I have them , I want too many to go through the pain , and less than desireable rails , paint , and decals .

Santa Fe B units were GP7s.  Only UP and PRR originally had GP9 B units.  Am interested in the history of the BNSF unit.

Walkway and hand rail sections are included in the DPH kit.

Wasting your time there... they do what Atlas does. No N S series switchers, no C424 in N, no U30B in N, no GP40-2W in N - yet all in HO.

If you want something done, offering to put up some $$$ is probably a good place to start.

I think FVM should continue with the Milwaukee product theme and give us a diesel that says "M-I-L-W-A-U-K-E-E" like the Fairbanks-Morse H10-44 (with porch roof).
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

If I remember correctly (it's been a while since I looked at this), the UP and PRR units were different phases, so whatever unit was picked would only be correct for one road name plus whatever repaints or mergers they survived.

You are correct.  Using the existing kit mod you would have to redo the fans on top.  A lot of cutting involved.  Interesting, the original Atlas GP9s were the correct phase for B units, although they messed up body length to fit under then existing frames.

Would be correct for the GP7 B units tho.

If we are requesting roadswitcher B Units how about GP 30 B Units with and without steam generators SD 24 B Units (could use a S*** Pot of those) and the rare cabless Baldwin boosters found only on SP.Nate Goodman (Nato).

Am interested in the history of the BNSF unit.

Originally NP units. They were not built as B units though.

Hi, FYI,

I did a thread back in 2007 on building one of these Des Plaines N scale GP7B kits:

Hope that helps, enjoy.  :-)
