I have a feeling that will be addressed as scenery progresses in that area.

I've been working on the tracks around the facility lately, mainly weathering them.

I used some black and brown Bragdon powders to make the tracks look dirty and oily.  In a few spots I wanted to make it look wet from fuel spills.  I achieved this by using a small dollop of  glossy Mod Podge and thinned it to a wash and then applied it to the areas where spills would likely be.  It soaked in and when dried it looked wet.  I also did this around some of the piping and hoses.

The other thing I added were some wheel stops.

That looks fantastic!  I'll have to remember the Modge Podge tip when I get around to installing flange greasers on Tehachapi.

I'd never heard of Piper Craftsmen Kits, but it looks like he's got some great stuff.  I can't imagine how tedious it would be to make a business of selling 3d prints though...

Thanks Gary.
Be sure to thin the Mod Podge so it flows into the ballast/ground just like a ballast glue mist.  The first drop I put down balled up, so I put a drop of alcohol on it and it soaked away.  If you get it too thin, just apply another drop.

So while I was messing around with the scene over the weekend, I moved the wheel stops forward about 2 ties. Luckily I used CA glue so they popped right off.

Then I decided to extend the fuel pit track. Originally I had planned to have a fuel truck backed up to the pumphouse but decided it made more sense to use a tank car for fuel just due to the size of the tanks as it would take a lot of trucks to fill the tanks. Hindsight is 20/20.

So I dug up the ground cover and added a short length of track and then tried to blend it in the best I could.
This will still allow me enough room to park three GP locos on the fuel pit with the tank car sitting there.

Man, I LOVE the color and texture of the oil soaked ground. Looks just like a nasty engine terminal should.
