I think the largest photo I ever saw here was of the locos in LTE.  That think was huge.

You are not using the proper URL string for Picasa.

Where is there a free site online to host big photos?  I used to have them at Fileave, but it has closed down. Photobucket want a pro account to use original photo sizes

Imageshack.us will allow large images. I use them. But even as a registered free user you can only upload up to 400 images (I suppose you could try creating several accounts). But since the forums only display 800 pixels across or less, there isn't much need for larger images for forum posts.  The problem I have with Imageshack is that they lose some of my images and my multiple contact with their customer support results in perfect silence from them and my images were never restored. I have local copies and I can upload them again but that will also change all the links I have for them in old posts.

I just joined Pthotobucket and I think their max size for free accounts is 1024x768.

That is a wide-a$$ image!  I think it confuses the forum's software.

Sooo, is there anything like a consensus as to the three best hosting sites if one only needs it be able to post photos here? I like simple and cheap...
Thoughts would be appreciated.

Did you see my post (3 posts up from yours)?  I mention 2 sites which I use.  Best? They all have good and bad points but what would you expect from free sites? They all do what I need. Why do you need consensus?  :|

Picasa works for me.
You get a gig of storage.
As long as the images are 800px wide or less, they won't count against the limited amount.

And if you use the desktop version to upload the pics, you can just check a button to resize all the photos as they upload.  Saves a ton of space.
