oohps, Richi I hope that doesn't hurt all too much...

this week I managed to finish this QNS&L SD70ACe...

...just to find out that the whole fan section is wrong. (my excuse is that there are not that many pictures out there showing this QNS&L engines and even less showing detail shots) the QNS&L ACes have some sort of a 'winterization hatch' arround the two big fans.  >:( :(

...and yes, these handrails look way too thick  :-\

I won a MAJOR AWARD!!!  First Place in the local Hobby Town model contest... Well, first place in the model train category.  Well, the only entry that had a train in it...  Still... A MAJOR AWARD!!

Next off to the nationals, in which I expect to have my clock cleaned mercilessly.

Lots of 1:24 truck models were in the contest, some neat scratch built early trailers and stuff.  All by a guy who was not well acquainted with modern hygiene practices...  But nice work just the same.

I think this is my first time actually offering something to show in the weekend update!  :)

This week I built some modules for a 12' long HO switching layout, and started laying down some roadbed.

Here's what she looks like as of this afternoon:

You can see more including the track plan over in the Layout Engineering Reports section.

Is it going to be a nicely shaped leg lamp in a box marked "FRAGILE"?

Way to represent Lee.

Ah, a preview of my knee next week. Hope it all went well for you, Richie.

Last week I made a Z scale quatersawn oak desk for the Gorre ticket agent, per Dave Schneider's suggestion. Well, it's not really quatersawn oak, but it's a nice wooden desk all the same.

The station got lights...

... and the platform was populated with plenty of people, packages, and so forth.

That Z scale Gore & Daphetid layout is simply amazing DKS...congratulations on the inspiration, the execution and the incredibly rapid progress.

This week I finished installing the Train Order panels and all the computer controlled electronics to allow the Dispatcher to operate them.  They are plug-ready for the powered semaphores once I start replicating these...probably at the end of this year.  This was a much more involved project then I anticipated but I certainly learned a whole lot of new skills in the process.

I also took receipt of 4 more radio throttle conversions so now all but 4 of the 10 are radio (the balance IR/cabled).

Finally I installed the remaining telephone handsets at the TO locations.

Here are all three items installed at Farron Summit station already for the next ops session on the 9th!

I finally got back to modeling after six months!

As I won't be able to finish my whole door layout before I graduate, I decided to make the only somewhat completed scene into separate diorama. In the next few weeks I hope to finish the scene completely and use up all the scenery supply's I have lying around.

I also have Helicon Focus now, and here is the first shot I've processed with it.

The other side of the tunnel. I'll be adding lots of trees and vegetation here.

Ah, a preview of my knee next week.

Maybe, maybe not.  They used surgical steel staples on me, but the incision was straight across the knee cap.
