Two new PS-2 4427 hoppers in May MTL releases

Got the May MTL Micro-News today.  Here are the N scale Cliff Notes:

  • PS-2 4427 hopper, Rock Island speed lettering, lt gray
  • PS-2 4427 hopper, Farmrail, medium green
  • two (2) 65000-series tanks, Frisco diesel oil service, black with yellow dome
  • 50' box DD no roofwalk high ladders (CC&F), Canadian Natl noodle, mineral red, crate load
  • 50' box SD, Milwaukee, fgt car red w/yellow LRD door
  • 50' cvd gondola, Great Northern, red (repaint)
  • 60' box DPD, Western Pacific, fgt car red (repaint)
  • Presidents boxcar, William J Clinton
  • 40' trailer, N&W hamburger herald, aluminum
  • Heavyweight RPO, Ringling Bros & BB, Miss Leitzel, red sides & black roof
  • runner pack, three (3) Ringling Bros & BB passenger cars, white

The circus RPO looks less like a fantasy car than the previous RB&BB releases.  I wonder if it is at least close to an actual prototype, although the dark green underframe might be an indicator that it is fictional.

I like the Rock Island hopper. The Farm Rail car is cool too, but too modern for me.

I wonder how many cigars a 40' boxcar can carry?

CN boxcar, WP boxcar, and N&W trailer are of interest. I think the RI 4427 is too early for my late 1980's era (unless RI cars did not all get re-assigned and re-stenciled by new owners) and the Farmrail... never seen one up here.

Paint a undec 30K Tank Car brown and put a Cohiba Cigar band around the middle if you can't get a ML car.
