Note that it's designed so that the corner module can be omitted if necessary, say at a show where space is limited. One of the two staging yards ends up shorter than the other without the corner, but it's not a huge problem that I can see.

I keep struggling with that too but I think the drawing's boundaries are for drawing purposes only and do not reflect wall placement of the room.

You might consider dropping the staging down a bit and vault the scenery over it, with the backdrop at the very back edge. You could grab some depth really cheap and make for a scenery spectacle.
