David-I wonder how useful a shot gun approach like this is going to be for a new business venture. I also can't picture you finding the time to get up to speed on things like the variety of SP lighting packages, or locomotive plows, signal boxes, etc. I think you need to find a niche and work from there. Scenic details would seem to be more more your specialty. So things like sewer grates, or electrical meters, or crossing gate parts, or water main valves, etc, that we've watched you have to cobble together out of various parts on your blog would be ideal and go with the DKS I have pictured in my head. Work to your strengths, as detail parts manufacturing like this is a labor of love. You need to stay interested for the long haul, and that means developing a line of parts that fit your strengths. And sometimes that means making the parts that no one has thought of, but go, wow, I need to buy a couple of those!
how could I forget MbE, ok no ditch lights... what size K+S tubing are you using (as a metric guy I have no idea what 9/32" or the such means)cheers...
So far, I like Richies suggestion of air tank ends the best. Make them to fit the various sizes of K+S brass tubing that is available so you can make the tanks any length you need. The suggestion for various city/home details is also a good one: (Detail Associates does make some of this already though)Mail boxesTrash Cans Electric/Gas MetersElectric line Weather headsFire hydrantsDitchlights are pretty well covered by Minatures by Eric. Porch mounted ditchlights are not hard to make yourself with some K+S tubing and styrene sheet.
