I had a feeling about that, that graphic screams 90s at the earliest. Sneaky, or wrong headed, of MT to promote the model as such. They really should have noted when that paint scheme came online (as they should all models). Then again, me has another feeling that they don't know exactly either.

I'm really sort of dismayed that they chose this as a second paint scheme on this car.  Obscure or what?  I'd never even heard of the road before.

There's a lot more Class I railroads that they could have gone with prior to getting into all of the private car owner periphery.
I'm a little surprised that they didn't choose an Easter Bunny design.

The IMCX Car would be seen all over western Canada (and the northwestern US) hauling potash from Saskatchewan. MT Chose to do the rare scheme tho, Most cars have no logo only reporting marks...

It's probably is obscure to most, but that's because most don't pay attention or care if doesn't have their home road plastered on the side.

IMC leased NAHX hoppers in the 50's and 60's.

Since the dimensional data on the IMCX car has no "CAPY" we can safely conclude that the scheme is post late 1980s. Since the paint looks pretty fresh in the circa 2004 photo of the actual car (see link in prior post) I'd say it's post 2000.

I don't care if they release the 2nd road in my home scheme or not...even MT will eventually get to it.  I just think it's interesting that they go from Santa Fe to IMCX.
This wasn't a "it's all about me rant".
I've been involved with railroads in one form or another for over 30 years and I just personally had not heard of the company before.  Even after looking at those photos of the two models you posted, it still doesn't ring a bell.

I think they were both odd choices.  A Santa Fe car from the 80's and now this.  Not exactly what I pictured when the body style was announced.

I could actually use an ATSF as-delivered car, but a second Santa Fe car with a different paint scheme might not be seen for 10+ years with the way MTL releases cars.

Well, now that's interesting and puts a new light on the IMX hopper since I have no industries needing potash...  :(

But if you have a Farmers Co-op, they get cars of fertilizer and that's where that comes in play, if the era is right.

Not suprised on choice of second schemes or even first. MTL does have precedent for non-railroad names in early releases. Didn't they release the Louis Dreyfuss car as the 3rd scheme in the Evans/Magor car. I'm really kind of tired of their obsolete release strategy. It's not Joe's fault, but someone really needs to shake them up about it. Personally I hope they do more non-rail owned schemes before they do the railroads.

I wish my magic wand wasn't broken, then I could do all things for everyone! ;D

We are working to do more releases a month so we can cover the variety of schemes used on this car.  I get a bunch of emails every day and I think they are split 50-50 on major roads vs private color.  What's a guy to do?  What seems logical to one, is bat droppings to another.  That's the quandry I face.  I personally wanted create a mix each month knowing that the private owners tend to do as well as the big names.  We have a number of older schemes in Decorating now, hopefully some stuff folks will like.  So far sales have exceeded expectations and trends, so we must be doing something right.

Now back to the Easter Bunny art work  :P

FYI, The Railwire crew have made Paul Graf's shot of the IMCX car the most viewed of the day on their website.

That's funny, Joe.

What's really funny is the Easter Bunny Car would probably fly off the shelf!

I have one of every scheme you have done witht he EVans car and will do the samne with everyone you do of the 4427 or more than one. You could do a mix every month and probably satisfy everyone. It's a great model of a car I have wanted for awhile and am grateful you got it done. I just wish we could get more coverage over a shorter period o f time.

Thanks for a great job on this model.

In my experiences on the railroad with IMCX potash cars, this is more like it:
