Come to think of it, a Penn Central passenger train arriving on time isn't very prototypical, is it?  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, well it won't be on the track when it arrives, so that much is correct.

Kato's email that I got actually showed both the Amtrak and PC cars together to create an early era Amtrak train... quite compelling, though the duplex sleeper and the roomette car turned coach wouldn't have been a part of such a consist (the roomette turned coach car was a commuter coach).  Looked pretty good overall...

I'm going to guess; and look to the PC-ites to confirm or deny; that the chances of any PC painted sleeper having ventured too far off PC rails was somewhat remote given the timeframe and short life of non Amtrak passenger service during PC's existance.... so it would be a   s t r e t c h  to have one as part of a "leased car" group sitting on garden tracks in the interior of British Columbia during the late 1960's....?
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Puddington, I highly doubt it. But I could be wrong. I would say that in 1968 they JUST started to repaint those things and would have used them on home rails for a while before they got loose and perhaps roamed other systems. Some of those cars are a stretch for me, as the bottom of my time frame is 1972. I do have photos of them running on the Montrealer which thankfully will work for me. I saw the test shots at the Amherst show and they looked good. I ordered both sets of coaches and both E8s, as I have a nice picture of both a PC and Amtrak E8 on the point of the Montrealer.

I don't see any transcontinental service by PC in my Jan. 1969 official guide. Only Canadian service is a NY to Toronto sleeper (via TH&B, i think). And Montreal via the D&H. You could say PC painted up a car, then decided to sell it. They were always discontinuing trains during their time.

I received my set today and I couldn't be more pleased.

Simply outstanding!

The decoder install in the E8 was pretty easy.

The passenger cars are gorgeous.  I'm not a passenger train guy, but Kato did A-OK on this set.

Received mine today also. I agree. Kato did an outstanding job. Wish they had done more than one E-8.

Just get a PRR E-8 and slap a PC decal over the keystones and add some dirt and rust.

Mine should be here tomorrow ;D. I've got 3 Atlas cars from the early '70's waiting to be added to the consist. Cars over 40 years old with new ones. Just like real RR's.
