Bachmann Class J Series...

So two weekends ago I picked up a second Class J #608. I noted that 608 is satin black while 611 is gloss black, both descriptions are 50's-60's for both respective numbers. From the pictures I've seen satin is correct for the J's while in service (but details I don't know), so my question is gloss black correct for the 50's-60's 611...or is it a snafu or foob?

Did your 611 come with the aux. tender?

The fan trip version came with the aux. tender and was glossy. I thought all the other versions were the matte finish.

Nope I bought all my aux tenders seperate. To add, I have yet to see a satin finish #611 either.

I just looked at the photo's on Bachmann's site and all are glossy except 608.

I have 608 and 611 in the "50s" finish.

My 611 loco is "glossy" but both tenders match up in the same "satin" finish. Looks like Mr Bach cut corners a bit here.

Will have to subtly "dial back" the gloss on 611's engine one of these days.

Hmm interesting mine is not satin, it's gloss.

      When the very first runs of the J were done the 611 loco was done as a special run and the color used on it was revised to more closely match the colors that were then on the locomotive in exxcursion service. The other road number was the stock factory number. Since then Bachmann has used both numbers and it would appear that the paint colors have been changed some. I have two of the original locomotives,one the special run 611 the other the stock factory locomotive.                                         Nate Goodman (Nato).Salt Lake, Utah.
