Way to keep the steam alive!

I built my workbench bones, I'll put 2 L-girders down the top.

And I didn't figure out my trackplan, but I figured out my trackshape:

The whole layout is 8'x18.5'

We'll in a true act of lazyness (not wanting to setup the booth), I jumped to plan 'B' on paint and texture for my bridge piers.

I doesn't suck, but the texture is a bit heavy (and this is after knocking out the larger bits) and it's hard to work into the small steps. We'll see what it looks like after I get the other side done with the airbrush.  But at least now I can play with some of the weathering.

Finally moving forward on making a layout a reality.  Spent the week tearing apart the basement.  It should be railroad-friendly by early January if not sooner.

This week saw completion of the first phase of track bus wiring for the layout.  This phase has included installation of the Ramp Meter and Power Management Panel, and assembly and installation of the circuit breaker panel.  During this past week the focus was on getting the track bus runs out to the underside of the lower and upper decks in preparation for their runs around the layout, which will occur concurrently with tracklaying.

Here is the completed wiring underneath the helix.  The master bus runs from the command station at right to the Ramp Meter and then down to the circuit breaker panel where it divides into eight power districts.  The red (positive) wires then go up to the Power Management Panel for the SPST manual on/off switches.

Bus wires #1-4 then go through a small hole in the circuit breaker panel . . .

and come out underneath the lower deck, from where they will run around the room:

Bus #5 goes up and around the helix, and bus #6-8 go up through a passage hole behind the helix to reach the upper deck:

They eventually emerge underneath the upper deck:

I am really pleased to reach this stage.  Next up is the Helix Occupancy Panel.

No physical modeling done for the last two weeks. Between an uber-hectic period at work, a minor injury (tendonitis in my index finger) and the impending holidays, I haven't had much chance. However, I did some virtual modeling by completing a collection of compact track plans for Z scale, using only Micro-Trains roadbed track. Here's a sample--

I don't know - the second one from the right looks "well qualified."

No train work for me this weekend - mom in law is visiting and I spent yesterday Christmas Shopping with two teenage girls to whom I am related.

Good news is Dad is bringing the O-27 Lionel set from my childhood to put under the tree . . .

I realize that I've been on a bit of a hiatus, but I'll have something good for next week.

diezmon,,

I like the added height to your DPM building  8)
May be the large door could be replaced by a iron curtain ?
