Ouch. I think it's a bit too early to write off Athearn. Their bay window cabooses were stunning. More likely, we're simply seeing the effects of manufacturing difficulties in China and a really slow economy. We can only guess how many projects that would be on the market now have been sidelined in the last few years due to those two issues. Still, one truck due in 8 months is really sad.
Then hopefully it will be the logo of the left - it covers a lot more of us, and just seems more appropriate for the Ford C.
According to the flyer, it's the older logo..
Unfortunately, it's more than the logo, according to the Athearn announcement (http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/112310/04_UPS_Box_Van_112310.pdf)Since the internet wasn't in public use until what, '74, the truck just don't work for us earlier modelers, In fact the internet on the truck side dates to the mid-80s or later, I think, which limits users even more. Unless Athearn want to provide "brown" to paint out the unusable part.BTW, UPS doesn't just own the logo and color, they own the rights to their truck design too.
If you can come up with a matching brown, you could just paint over the globe and other stuff. And if the match isn't perfect, a little weathering ought to fix it.
What I would give to have these (and the F89F flats) in N:http://www.athearn.com/newsletter/112310/05_UPS_Trailers_112310.pdfI think the printing of the acorn logo in HO is a first.....
