Finally getting back in gear from playing hookey from work in the Caribean, I completed most of the mechanicals needed to control the switches on the layout. With the exception of the south crossover all of the switches on the layout now have control linkages.

I also got word back from my decalmaker that their new printer is in route and I should have decals shortly! Looking forward to completing some projects sitting on the workbench.

Was able to get the base of one of the peninsulas done today:

I 'm hoping to get the others done/ready for assembly by this weekend,

yup
i jigged it up this afternoon while watching NFL.

i am gonna grab some company houses and a big ol' Victorian house for the hill and put in a backdrop.

there's some more work to do, but it will be a place for an operator to set out cars and be an industry to serve.

Eric,
I've got three Blair line company houses built up and painted. Let me know if interested.

The boom car also held a pair of spare freight car trucks, so I'll get some BLMA versions mounted.  I figure that's the only place anyone will actually notice a back wheel profile.   :)

And here I thought you were done with petty potshots...

Here are some quick and dirty shots of the new SW1500:

By the way, these were taken with my new cell phone with its built in flash... not too bad.

Here is another shot with my Samsung Focus. I gotta admit, I'm pleased with the results. The windows phones seem to do macro a lot better than my wife's iPhone 4. I think this may be becasue Microsoft (and Google) are pushing those 3d bar codes or tags that link magazines and real world objects to web sites and require a good macro capability.

There is still a little blow out with the mini excavator. The photo was reduced from 5MP.

One more cell phone shot. I dug this out of an old Razr. In celebration of FVM's GP60M, here is a shot of one sitting in Beacon Park yard in Boston from 2006. Man we have come a long way in cell phones.

Lighten up Robb, it was a joke.  It's just funny because it's true.  :P

Nothing much pretty to show. Been working on a batch of Arnold GG-1's for a friend. I picked up 4 units at an auction that came from the repair bench of a closed hobbyshop. They had been using them for parts, mainly motors and worm gears missing. Everything else was brand new. Between the 4 of them, we had enough parts to make 2 run with the addition of worms from Kato and a couple MP15 motors from Atlas.

The scary thing is, these now run very good. The motor slowed them down and it has plenty of pull. Slow speed performace really surprised me.

He want's one painted up in the CR 4800 Bicentenial scheme so I have been working on the decals tonight.

Problem was, I spent more time fighting with the Alps than actually drawing them. Figured out the hard way that there is a reference reflector on printer door that the carriage uses to allign itself. Don't let that get dusty. After wiping off the chrome sticker, the printer worked like a champ. Just took an hour to figure it out.

I'm loving the steam, Richie!
Last night I began toying with a trackplan for the bare 4x8 benchwork in the basement. So far I'm pretty happy with it, especially from an operational perspective because it allows for 3 jobs (papermill switcher, local freight, and local passenger) but also incorporates some roundy round although only through the top half. Right now I'm leaning towards a Rutland branch but that could easily change.
