You would think you could click on a Trainboard members profile and find a link to their railimages gallery, but I can't figure out how.

Yeah, that would be nice. The person in the TB thread attached them, so they were uploaded from their computer and not their RI account unfortunately.

CNNA was from 1992 to 1995. We are all better for it's loss... missin' the stripes.

Thanks! I'm modeling 1996, so I am figuring there would probably be still some run down power on the former CV of CN stuff.

Yeah, thought that might happen.  I could see them while I had them up in TB and here at the same time.

Thanks! I'm modeling 1996, so I am figuring there would probably be still some run down power on the former CV of CN stuff.

CN sold the CV to NECR in early 1995, so it's likely their stuff may have ran down the fmr CV. Remember that CN power would run into Selkirk out of Montreal, so chances are that CR could have easily borrowed a CN unit or two and sent them God knows where. That actually might be a more plausible reason for CN power to be in New England. I have too many shots of CR power in and around Toronto back then, paying back HP hours to CN... CR SD50's were common enough as to become somewhat boring (call me when a C32-8 shows up... and one did in 1996). Anyways, anything can happen with an arrangement like this. I once shot a CN #390 to Montreal off the UP in Chicago (before the Tash hump was closed) with two CN units and two UP GP15-1's... the word was CN 'borrowed' them without asking, so UP retaliated by borrowing a CN unit in Chicago and using it as far south as N. Liittle Rock. Joke was on UP though, they grabbed an HR616  ;D

So, you could, if you wanted to, find a reason for CN 2338 to make it to NE. After all, the last M636 on CN was working mainline freights into 1998 and you just know she was in Montreal alot. Hmmm, CR C40-8W, CN M636, CR SD50 lashup anyone?

A veritable gaggle of CN (Crash Naturally) loco's just waiting to smash into something..............
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Was trying to find the difference between the top and bottom units (same paint, etc) when it hit me - dynamics and no dynamics.  Why would CN with it's mountain profile buy non dynamic units?

Yes I do remember seeing quite a bit of CN in Selkirk, as well as every once an a while in Berlin, NH when M420's, SD40-2W's and SD75I's would be on SLR trains in the late 90's. Was nice to see them since CN sold the Berlin Sub in 1989 to the SLR.

Looks like I might pick up 5280 and 5249...but I still need close up shots to make me pull the trigger.

The steepest grades on CN (traditional, not after all the takeovers) were not in the Rocky Mountains... they are in the east IIRC. CN in the west was built late and to very high standards, well engineered with low grades. For years, CN would send 100 car empty grain trains through the Rockies with a single SD40. On CN's 2nd generation power, dynamic brakes were in the minority. Of CN's 241 SD40's, roughly 32 had DB and a similar number of SD40-2W's were so equipped. The GP40-2L and GP40-2W fleets were 100% non-DB, while the 16 GP40's had them, they disconnected them at some point, a few units even has the fan removed from the blister.

I'm gonna take some shots of mine tommorow on the snowy module and I will post them up, I am actually really pleased with this unit, the ride height looked awful in those pictures, on my layout it is about the same as an Atlas SD60 and better than the Atlas Dash-8's. Gonna be some work to convert to DCC apparently...
