We took the grand kids and went to The Hillcrest Pumpkin Patch near
Sanger, CA. Home of the Hillcrest and Wahtoke Railroad. Live steam
with a great SP Garden layout near the depot.

So I was able to do some benchwork downstairs (thank you Eagles for making quick work of Atlanta). Here are some photos:

This one is a bracket made from a 2x4. This one would have decks on each side:

Here it is completed:

I'm going to relook at this design. I'm not sure I really like it. I might just do two single brackets back to back. Here's the single bracket I did:

I have some more 1x3 to put on the lower level I may get to tomorrow or Tuesday and I know I'll make a trip to Home Depot and/or Lowes this week for some more 2x4s for the brackets and then start working on the peninsulas,

Finally finished construction of the M&StL 40' ex-auto boxcar with raised Viking roof.  It's going to be a while before painting since the paint booth is currently out of commission, but I can still get a number of rolling stock projects to the pre-paint stage.

I like it!  Good job of bringing parts from various sources together Bryan.  Well done.

There's an old saying saying that goes:

"Every journey begins with a set of seventy year old blueprints from the city engineering office"

Or something like that.  :)

After realizing I probably won't be able to do a full weekend show for a few more years and after that layout planning thread about compromise, a gift fell into my lap to bring me back to my roots.

I love projects like this.  Looking forward to seeing how you execute it Jason.  Very cool.

Got some progress done on my CV Torpedo Geeps.

The Coastie unit needs a few touch ups but is for the most part done. The
picture isn't all that great. It's hard to photo white and stil see the truck detail!!
When their done they will need a good home to go to. ;) ;)

Got a bit of work done on my Kankakee River bridge module, with the northeast bank now contoured and grassed:

Its been a couple of weeks because I was without a camera last week.  My wife had it in California...

Model RR work focused on getting Pup Creek area ready for an open house in a month.  I painted the backdrop details, finished the ground cover, ballasted the track and made up and added 200-250 trees.  The photos show the current situation.  I still need to finish off the creeks (a pour hadn't set in Pup Creek which is why it is cloudy), complete additional line poles and add a bit more detail.

Here are some shots of X8604 West heading up the creek.  For reference, the train is about 8 1/2' long.

Next week I can get back to the Farron summit snow scene.

Roughed in the horizon line on the upper deck backdrop, feathered in the haze and started adding a few cumulus clouds.

Not particularly dramatic at the moment but it is a good start.

Not N scale but it's what I got done this weekend....thought the Milwaukee guys might like to see it.

Working on a project for the father of a member of our N-trak club....

Still need to finish drawing the decals and print them out. Also need to paint the trucks/sideframes.

It's a KMT brass loco that I've already rebuilt the mechanism with NWSL gear sets, replaced the dry rotted rubber hose/motor coupling with silicone, and removed about a pound of lead. The previous owner crammed lead into every nook and cranny, including some places it should not have been that kept the loco from running.

I hope all that work doesn't got to waste.  That's supposedly the next electric loco from MTH (and it looks pretty awesome).

Not too much for me, thanks to a wedding and a Smashing Pumpkins concert.

Managed to take a shot of a Red Caboose autorack project. The RC rack isn't too modeler friendly thanks to all the superglue and I spent most of the dis-assembly time hoping that I wasn't going snap something. RC has done 3 Espee schemes, but not the one I wanted most - TTX rack with SP speed lettering. I took the SP flat / SP rack speed lettered release and stripped the flat and base rack assembly back and repainted the flat in TTX yellow and re-decaled. There is a slight colour difference in the brown from the RC sides and Floquil Freight Car Brown that I'll probably touch up. Hopefully now that I've done two of these the new RC/Intermountain venture will release a few more....

I sat on the side of the tracks railfanning and the best thing that came by was a local delivery truck

Well I am out of town and back to the states for the next 10 days, so I doubt I will be doing much modeling, Before this I got the urge to scratchbuild cabooses, so my sheet of clapboard Styrine became one of NP's bay window cabooses, using line drawings. I don't have any pictures, I will post some when I get home and it is finished!!!
