I doubt this is the doozie as they have had the Freedom Train on their site for a bit now, with it being shipped next month.  I think this is is just Lowell Smith Signature Series to capitalize on on this.    And their special pricing of $165 is in the same ballpark of N Scale Supply price for the GS-4. 

Now if Kato was to produce the whole train, I can see that being somewhat of a doozie if they got all the cars and details correct. 

It would seen feasible with Kato going on their passenger car frenzy right now.

It's actually disapointing to see it come out in this form. This is going to be upwards of a $2000 train by the time it is done depending on the size of the consist they choose. Cars in the $50-100 a piece range, ouch. It will be very cool to see it completed, which I hope to see. I have a friend who is very much into the Lowell Smith offerings and I'm sure he will have it coming. He already has the GS-4 on order from our shop.

God I hope not. First off, this is a memory schtick for lots of people, and making them buy a GS4 if they saw the train with one of the other locos just sucks. How would someone modeling The Broadway Limited feel having the passenger car set sold with a cab forward? Not good, I assume. To me, the AFT should have a T1 pulling it.

Second, a doozie shouldn't be such a slow motion production. How much opportunity is there for ole' Lowell to give up the ghost over the years, or go bust somewhere in the middle? The marketing's pretty vague as it is, with no indication of how true the model will be, how many cars there will be. But I guess like with MT's RBBX train, there's one born every minute...

No definately not the doozie. Kato already announced it. COLA may not be a big asnnouncement for some, but it is their big one for the fall.

The second release "Splendid Spirit" is an observation car.  So it stands to reason that the MTL observation model will be introduced prior to May of next year.
